A must if you want to get the most from your SONY RX10M4 Camera
This book is simply brilliant. From the basics to the advanced it is written in an easy, understandable style. It is a guide, a manual and a reference. The author talks to you, explaining what all the features are of course but most importantly adding real value by giving tips and advice on how to use and how the features work together. He builds from what is most important to consider to get started quickly enabling you to produce good pictures and videos but then gradually helping you get the most from the device. Given that the camera is a very costly piece of kit why would you not spend the small sum on this book to get the best from it. The author assumes some knowledge of cameras and photographic technical terms which is right given that it is unlikely that a real novice would buy this camera. However he explains the terms properly without talking down to you or treating you as an expert. I like the way you can read through a section getting the whole story as it were but you can also dip in to a particular feature and get help without having to flick back and forth. I would though like the screen shots to be rather larger, indeed about twice the size to be of the most benefit. Based on this book, if you have another camera for which he has produced a guide then I would expect it to be equally as good.

A Photographer's Prayer Answered - A Marvellous Guide
Obviously, from its title, this informative book is directed to owners of the Sony DSC-RX10 IF camera, and what a great book it is. The text is very well written, keeping the reader interested in what could have been a real technical turn off. There was an abundance of information from the basic workings of the camera to advanced photography and video techniques which were supported by numerous photos. Having read this guide I now have the confidence to be creative and use the camera to its full potential rather than leaving it on auto mode.

A Good Guide
A good book to use for understanding the RX10 4 and readable from cover to cover. There is a need to flip forward and back but that`s not a problem with book marks.

The Definitive Guide
By its very nature, an "all in one" bridge camera is possibly even more difficult to use than a good DSLR with detachable lenses. The top of the range Sony RX10 M4 is no exception, even for a pro. Sony's own manuals don't really cut the mustard as they are more about how to operate the camera rather than how to use it in the real world. So, I was delighted to come across this book as it covers all you need to know in exceptional detail - all 260 pages of it! The text goes into the detail any photographer would need, regardless of ability, and the accompanying colour photos add additional and welcome information too. Alexander White has produced many such books and has done it again here by stripping away most of the confusing technical complexities and making the camera much more accessible for all skill levels. The only other kit you need are the usual essentials such as: * good filters - UV, polarising and graduated ND * a tripod - Sony's VCT R100 is excellent * a flashgun - I have a Metz Armed with the camera, the kit above and of course the book, you're fully loaded and ready to take some truly great photos with this excellent camera without having to carry around loads of heavy equipment. -

A must have book to understand your camera
I have only read a few pages but what I have read is very good. This camera does so much I wish I bought this the same day I got the camera.

A Must-Have If You Have Bought A Sony RX10 iv.
There is no doubt that the Sony RX10iv is an amazing camera; neither can it be denied that it is complicated and packed full of features. Plenty of people have bought the camera and then failed to get the best out of it due to not having a clear idea of what it can do. I already owned an RX10, but to get the best out of my new camera I thought it advisable to buy this book. The book is a small fraction of the camera's price, but it is incredibly valuable when it comes to fathoming out this complex beast. Everything is explained very clearly, much more so than Sony's own manual. The photos are plentiful and clear. The only downside is the size; it means that you are not going to take it with you on a shoot.

The RX10 IV is probably one of the best cameras you can buy at the moment
The RX10 IV is probably one of the best cameras you can buy at the moment. Unfortunately the manual that comes with it is probably one of the worst ever written. As with so many technically advanced products, the documentation is simply a recital of the technical specification. In this case in tedious detail, over about 600 pages. The person who wrote it clearly knows everything there is to know about the camera, it's buttons and settings. What is missing is any guidance on using this splendid camera to take pictures. Alexander White has specialised, over a number of years, in filling the user manual hole left by a number of manufacturers. And he does it pretty well. His language is clear and comprehensible but I could do without being referred frequently to other sections. This is particularly annoying as I have the Kindle version and it would be much more convenient to have all the required information in one place, rather than searching to and fro for it. Apart from that it is a very useful user guide. Generally I prefer the printed versions of this type of book but they are getting too expensive. Hence four stars instead of five.

An excellent companion to the RX10 iv
In selecting my new Camera I read online reviews and decided the Sony RX 10 iv looked to be the best option for me. My only concern was the complex menu system meaning I would struggle to understand the features and produce good photos. I bought this book (as to be quite honest the Sony help guide is little help to me) and I found this book very well laid out and it has helped me enormously and I now find the menu system possible (not yet easy) to navigate. An off shoot of this is that this book has shown me the advances that have been made in using a still camera for video and again the book is very clear in explaining how to use the camera to get decent videos. I would strongly recommend this book to anyone buying a Sony RX10 iv whether a novice or experienced photographer .

A must have for this great camera.
With such a fine tuned professional piece of equipment the Photographer's Guide is a must. It is comprehensive but easy to navigate and makes using the Sony RX10 iv a joy to use.

Two Excellent Guidebooks
There are two excellent guidebooks for the Sony RX10 IV: "Photographer's Guide to the Sony DSC-RX10 IV" by Alex White, and "The Friedman Archives Guide to the Sony RX-10 IV" by Gary Friedman. If you are serious about getting the most out this amazing camera, and want a shortcut through many hours of trial and error, I highly recommend buying both books. White's book is, as another reviewer said, the expanded guide that Sony should have written. It is thorough and well organized, with a detailed table of contents that makes it a pleasure to use as a reference. The explanations are clear and easy to understand, and White's own insights, though more sparing than Friedman's, are always valuable. In the Kindle version, this is a great traveling reference source. Gary Friedman is a very experienced and knowledgeable photographer, and also an engineer. His book can feel rambling and disorganized. His chatty style, self plugs, and obsession with emoticons will annoy some readers. The book is self-published, and, speaking for the Kindle version, it shows, in sloppy editing and formatting. Nevertheless, the book is also a treasure trove of valuable insights and practical wisdom, and I highly recommend it. I am reading the two books back to back (White first), topic by topic. For example, I will read White's guide to the Camera Settings 1 menu, and then, while that is still fresh in my mind, read Friedman on the same topic. This allows me to breeze through Friedman's coverage of "how" to use a setting, and concentrate on his insights into "why" and "when" to use it. I find this reading method very helpful. A couple of final notes: First, if your camera has firmware version 2 (you should update it if not), the sections on Face Detection and Eye AF in both books are obsolete. Friedman has written a good short supplement on the changes in version 2, which is available as a PDF file (at least it is if you buy the book from his website). Second, to be sure I got both the Kindle and PDF versions, as well as the new firmware supplement, I purchased directly from Friedman Archives. On the positive side, this meant I was able to download both the .AZW3 (Kindle) and .PDF files right away (at twice the cost on Amazon, mind you). However, be aware that you have to manually load the .AZW3 file to your Kindle. Because of the large file size, you cannot upload the file to Amazon, and then download or sync it to other devices. The PDF version does have better formatting, and is a much smaller file size than the .AZW3 version. In retrospect, I would have purchased the Kindle version from Amazon, as long as I was confident I would receive the promised PDF file on request.
