ASUS ZenScreen 15.6” 1080P Portable USB-C Monitor (MB16AHG) - Full HD, IPS, 144Hz, Mini-HDMI, Freesync Premium™, Ergo Kickstand, Eye Care, Blue Light Filter, Tripod Mountable, Protective Sleeve

A couple of years ago, the company I work for provided me with an ASUS ZenScreen portable monitor with only one USB-C port. While the monitor was excellent and worked well with laptops, when I subsequently tried to use it as an extended monitor for my iPad Pro, I found that it would only mirror the main screen. It turns out that the power output from the iPad Pro was insufficient to support the portable monitor - although that wasn’t easily confirmed online. On a hunch, I purchased the MB16AHG unit and added a separate USB-C cable to the second USB-C port to power the monitor. Voila! The portable monitor immediately comes up as the extended monitor that I needed. As I expected, the ASUS ZenScreen is an excellent product from a color, quality, and user interface perspective, given its price point. I definitely recommend it for use with iPads that can support extended monitors - you can check your iPad’s compatibility on the Apple website.

Didnt want to get the ROG Strix, but this works for casual gaming. Needed something to take on the road so I could play fallout 4 or other games on my ps4/5 on business trips. Glad it has hdmi to mini hdmi and two usb-c ports so I can have it pluged in to power and be able to play video games. Video quality is great for casual gaming. It does have a sound port, but Ive been using the wireless headset through the ps4/5. Overall, great alternative if dont want to spend so much on a ROG Strix portable monitor.

This is really a great very well built monitor. It was so hard to find a monitor of this size and quality that had more than just one USB-C connector most have seem to abandon having dual USB-C and mini HDMI inputs. This has dual USB-C for either video or powering plus mini HDMI. The screen settings for color contrast, etc. work very very well. I highly recommend this monitor.

I grabbed this ASUS monitor to try and work around an APPLE BUG that has plagued me for years. I will explain how I am using this monitor below but if you don't care about that, in short, I give it 4 / 5 because 1) the brightness is good, not great and 2) the 144 Hz refresh rate is suspect ... 120 Hz worked better when I tried it with both an M2 Macbook and an Intel 11th gen / Nvidia 3080 PC laptop. That said, I am still happy with this purchase. Apple rant: For many years, Apple has had an issue where connecting multiple external monitors to a laptop could result in desktops being swapped between monitors. For example, if I have app A on my laptop screen, app B on one external monitor, and app C on the other external monitor, often when waking the machine from idle B and C apps would swap monitor assignments. I suspect that the bug is that Apple was not handling monitors waking from sleep at different times (in milliseconds!). This is a super annoying thing. I used to have 2 external 4k monitors with Intel and later M1 Macbooks and I gave up and sold the second monitor because I was tired of rearranging the desktop windows every time on wake. This ASUS screen is like a second laptop monitor and I position it above (physically and virtually) my laptop screen and have set the Mac dock to be left justified with my main 4k monitor in the center. So far, this has worked better. Either Apple fixed the bug since I last had 2 4k external monitors (2022) or this extra ASUS 1080p screen in its position above the laptop dodges the issue. Either way, I am enjoying having the extra screen.

I work as a developer and in my setup I have my laptop screen plus an extra monitor. Recently I went on a trip and had to keep working, so I wanted an extra monitor that would give me the same comfort I had in my home setup. It delivers exactly what it promises: the case is very good, and the screen’s refresh rate really makes a difference. On top of that, the size is just right to transport it comfortably.

99.9% perfect..... the literal ONLY drawback... is no passthrough charging.... i have the 17 inch version and love it so much i bought this one to keep in a bag... i was hoping this model did use passthrough charging but it does not... stilll great performance super slim colors are great... thats the only thing i can say bad aboujt it...and is it really bad? i mean its 144hz so unlike the old 1080p 60hz it probably requirems more power...defintly woulda been a nice to have but the poduct it still a great purchase...this or the 17 inch models (speaking only for the 144hz models they have like 8 on there page lol)

Nice little monitor for travel. Used with a laptop for work, and with an Xbox Series S for play. The monitor will run at up to 30% brightness with just 5W USB power, so you can use a USB socket on the Xbox to power it without an additional power outlet. Comes with a HDMI to mini-HDMI cable, a USB-C cable with a USB-A adapter, and a carrying sleeve (which only fits the monitor, not the cables). Only a couple of nits: It won’t take full power and video over a single USB-C cable, at least not from my MacBook Pro M1. It still needs a second USB cable for power. No built-in speaker.

Stopped working after 3 weeks! First the screen turned half dark and then it just stopped working all together!
