Great Player, seems to last forever when used with the accompanying portable amplifieri only put top quality APE & FLAC files on this modest player & it beats my Apple Ipod 160gb 6gen classichands down, and best of all it's drag & drop so no more hours wasted syncing albumsi also use a microSDHC & i've had no problems, honestly if you have any reservations about buying this unknown chinese playerthose fears are unfounded, i'm very happy so happy i bought another one (see photo attached)

Good combo the player is much better quality than the amp, but both work and do a reasonable job.

Arrived with flat battery and scuffed on black plastic delivered inside a dented tin. When display goes blank after a few seconds it disables the buttons so you cannot skip tracks, change volume or access menu etc - the power button has to be pressed to activate display only then can the other functions be used - not very user friendly. The display brightness is quite dull and hard to see in sunlight, battery life is understood to be 10 hours. The sound is good but no better than zishan or walnut dsd players I recently purchased that sell for a fraction of the price. Finally advert is misleading. The item for sale is the mp3 player ONLY with the headphone amp now being the free promotion extra item. According to reviews the Headphone amp was sent free with the mp3 player anyway prior to any promotion. I received a black Mp3 player and blue Headphone amp that doesn't match.

OK. So, the first thing you notice about this music player is how heavy it is. It comes in a nice metal tin, carefully embedded inside with foam, and with the "free" headphone amplifier below, along with connecting cable, charging cable and basic English instructions. No headphones. The player is thick and solid, almost as if it were carved out of a block of ? steel or something. Actually i think it's aluminium, but the innards make it a hefty weight. Operation is easy and the handy file explorer tab lets you find all your music on internal storage or micro-sd card. The sound is very good and you can go via settings to the equalizer to change the values according to your preference. It's a bit clunky to get back from 'music playing' to your music library, but other than that the ui is pretty simple. Still have not found out how to stop a track playing,other than selecting another one. As for the "free" headphone amp, it again is quite chunky and heavy, solidly built. It may work well with high-end phones that need it, but with my albeit pretty high-end buds, I could not really hear any improvement and you can already boost the bass on the player, so don't really need to switch on more bass on the amp.

Review Saomai Sm4 at 60€ price range DAP:Package:- Only thing protect the item was the own metalic box. No other protection.- Inside the silver metalic box with an outanding green rubber band as lock system there are the DAP, the amp., intructions, an usb cable and a jack to jack cable to be used with amp. A handcutted foam thing protect it.Items:-+ DAP:#Build:- Cheap quality build. Looks cheap, feels cheap and weak. It seems previously handled before shipped. I not mean "used" i mean "not cleaned" once finished.- Visualy is ugly. Horrible logo and where it is placed. The buttons not "feels" cheap, they are cheap. Its a direct and true attack to my eyes.- The screen is in same way that all.- Overall is a little Frankestein. Well, to be honest, a little Frankenstein after be attacked with a flamethrow, a few russian tanks, covered with acid and cursed by Charles Manson. This is a more accurated description.- There is an AUX port and its a very good and useful thing.#Interface:- Its same like many chinese DAPs. Not seems nice and have an anti-intuitive management.- The display way, that screen, its not an incredible visual artifact. I think isnt visual either.- A really senseless thing and the worst part in DAP with no doubt. The firmware is absolute outdated and Saomai HAVENT support page.There isnt a company web to support their products, get info, etc, or some way to find online "help" to little Franky.This is an absolute fail and actually is nonsense.Make an item like this and NO exist a reference web to update and manage features or anything, my god. And like i said, firmware (the same like AGPtek or Benjie's etc) is outdated.I dont like a generic firmware , i like a firmware for THIS item.I know this firmware can be downloaded in other manufacters, with some issues of course, but...really not all people knows that and less thinking Saomai is a u known company and chinese DAP's are unknown to mass buyers.Sell an item but havent support means "ok here you have dear consumer, good day and now i forget you forever".- Of course like i mentioned, no intuitive navigation and manage and the translation to other lenguage its ALL wrong or insanely did.- The options are enough to manage the device in good way.- Many music formats, more advanced included, works fine.# Sound:- Simply outstanding. Its an incredible music device.But...this is annyoning for me.Why, Dear seller, why, WHY you make an INCREDIBLE sound machine into a poor and unsupported enviroment?. Please, WHY.Youre awesome talented to create this sound device but is inside a weak 40's Z series terror film monster and you are absolute unable to make it "rounded" (rounded not means better).+ Headphone amplifier (model 1 is mine):- It isnt good but bad neither. It works, but could be better.- Senseless again, it looks very nice, simple lines and well placed hardware to use/manage.My god WHY here you made a not so good sound interface but very nice looking one?. Really, i want to kill you, but only a little to make you wake up.+ Cables:- Image a cable made with recycled trash into a dark by a monkey with cerebral disease. Ok, this cables are worse made than the monkey did.No exist words in the world to describe that toxic creatures.CONCLUSION:Like sound device is absolute outstanding and of couse i recommend it to any who wants a very clear, loud, neutral and bright sound spending 60€ only.In overall way, no exist place to support it, its a visual monster crafted by an evil monster using jurassic tools, but that is good compared how the cables are. Anti-intuitive and outdated firmware/interface and etc etc.Dear friend, imagine a casual buyer want to buy a chinese DAP. He havent 0 idea about sound and 0 idea about chinese devices.The seller shows him 2 devices at same price range, the Saomai SM4 and thd Ruizu A50.The casual guy try both.100% he grabs Ruizu one. Well, sorry, 200%.The reasons?, read my review again.About seller, the same human being that desing the DAP, the Master of Saomai world and actual King and God, is absolute kindly, pleasant, soft, and adorable cute human being with the biggest patient ive seen ever.I know that because i was flaming him each day for 2 weeks because i wanted, i can and was fun.He always kindly and good comunication.Maybe hes the sweetiest man in world, maybe he lier and dont cares anything or maybe he have my sick humor sense but...really i dont care, i just love him.
