As the smokies are a protected product this can be read as complying with the location requirements of such products so these are a genuine article. (If this was untrue then Lancaster Smoke Houses would be in serious trouble). Over the years I've had quite a few of these excellent fish and very very occasionally I'll come across them in supermarkets in England. I regularly purchased these from fishmongers in Edinburgh so Arbroath exports them on a small scale. A truly noble smoked fish!
