These sticks are tiny, I wouldn't not use unsupervised. I purchased these for vacation use so my almost 2 year old would have some toys in the hotel room. He did love using it, but the stress I felt when I was searching for one of these that had rolled away to make sure he couldn't get it after we were finished. I would say this is perfect for fine motor skills, but unfortunately a lot of those practicing fine motor skills still like to put things in their mouth.Very nice carrying case.
