Why did you pick this product vs others?: This is what you remember from years ago for a tape recorder/player. Although it does have a microphone that comes with it, which I guess is an upgrade. The price point for this product was great and it’s a good solid good quality tape player. I recommend this product.

FANTASTIC ITEM !! THE MICROPHONE IS VERY SENSATIVE & PICKS UP ANY SOUND FROM A LONG DISTANCE. EASY TO USE & LOUD VOLUME. GLAD I BOUGHT THIS ONE FOR SURE ! UPDATE : 5/31/2026 NOW IT WON'T RECORD & SPEAKER DOESN'T WORK ( TRIED PRE-RECORDED TAPES TO TEST IT ). DIDN'T EVEN LAST A YEAR.

If all you want to do is play back cassettes you've already recorded on another device, this product will probably suffice. But forget about trying to RECORD with it and capture a clean recording. It is terrible. There is a loud HISS sound in the background that obscures much of what is recorded. I tried it with the microphone it came with, and also an external device that can be plugged into the AUX input. The result was the same. Very bad. I suspect this so-called recorder does not come with any sort of noise suppression built in, the result being you will get unwanted, overwhelming hiss and not a clean recording. This is not "normal" tape hiss; this is something much worse. I realize this is a very inexpensive device, but in reading some of the other reviews for this product from people who rave about how great this machine is, I went ahead and ordered one. That was a mistake. I am surprised anyone would think this can capture a good recording without extraneous noise in the background. BTW, I used a good quality, new cassette -- in fact, two of them -- and the result was the same. By contrast, I used an old machine I was getting ready to retire and it recorded beautifully WITHOUT any hiss. (But my old machine has a problem rewinding, hence I bought this one). I cannot in good conscience recommend this device and now if I seek a refund it will probably count against me. But in my line of work I routinely need to record interviews I do and this "Deluxe" recorder will not do the job.

Great cassette player. Exceptional customer service!

The product works great as expected but when it's connected via AC adapter and also connected to my PC via 3.5mm from the headphone port to my PC's mic port I get a horrible buzzing sound that makes the device unusable. A solution was using a ground loop isolator and that completely fixed the issue and it's perfectly silent when I need it to be. It's just a shame because the last one I had that I replaced this one with didn't need this additional hardware.

Very easy to use

I just wanted a player to play old cassettes I have, some 40 years old. The audio sounded good to my ears. However, I could not use the new rechargeable lithium batteries coming out now. Bad sound! I tried Ni-Mh rechargeable batteries instead with good results. For 21 dollars, the audio was very good! This was my experience only.

The update nobody asked for: figured out what happened. The buttons pivot on a rod which is held down by a couple of loose tabs, one on each side, themselves held in place by the case. One had fallen out and had gotten underneath the mechanism, jamming it and preventing it from disengaging when stop was pressed. Original: It was never a great tape player, and I never even bothered testing out the record capability. That would have been acceptable, if not great, but after barely a year it tried to eat one of my tapes. The play button got stuck. Nothing I could to would release it. If it had power, it would start playing the tape. I could still push the other buttons (pause, ff, rewind) but nothing would change the aspect of the play botton. Nothing I could do externally would change its mind and, with the play head engaged, the eject button didn't work. I eventually ended up having to tear the player apart to get my tape back safely. As you can see, the part of the play button that would have pulled it back into position has broken off and this seems to prevent the stop button from engaging. Ah well, I've got my 27 year old tape back, so that's cool. And I've got a bunch of cassette player parts that I probably can't sent back so... electronics project, anybody?

Funciona para escuchar cassettes, el eliminador de baterias es efectivo; el cassette que viene incluido fue usado para probarlo y grabar, aunque genera algo de ruido blanco esta bien para grabar cositas y notas, el microfono externo para reemplazar el integrado funciona de maravilla y el cable auxiliar para grabar algo como radio o audio de celular, el audio debe estar en un volumen adecuado en el externo para que el auxiliar detecte sin problema, el boton de grabar se atora un poco pero no hay broncas 4 de 5 estrellitas yeii :D

mete mucho ruido

No sé si el aparto viene dañado pero el ruido que mete lo deja inusable, incluso empeora si conectas el micrófono. Utilicé la fuente que viene incluida y probé distintos cassettes y siguió igual.
