As stated by others, the switch's performance is excellent with the full promised speeds, but as they also mentioned, the stock fan gets loud. It may sound daunting, but replacing the stock fan with a Noctua replacement for like $15 makes a huge difference. I replaced mine and the unit runs whisper quiet with the promised 10gbe speeds at a much cheaper cost than alternatives. As for the web interface, it's basic but gets the job done.

Note that this review is for the "12 Port 10Gb Managed Switch, 8x10G SFP+ & 4x10GBase-T Ports" as it seems the listing was re-branded from a different item like many sellers do, so none of the reviews of of writing this are for this switch. Its a very misleading practice. I was hesitant to get this switch without it having any real reviews for it, but I took a chance as there are so few 10g switches out there that have a mix of RJ45 and SFP+ sockets. Since getting it, I'm so far pretty happy. Everything seems to be working, however I did expect to have issues with the "managed" side of things since I already have a router. This is my first managed switched, so its a bit new to me, but I suspected it worked a lot like a normal router in many ways. When I first used it, my computer was not getting any IP address or anything from it which I thought was odd, so I tried to manually set my IP and subnet per the manual so I could go in and poke around, however, nothing I did worked. I could not ever reach the so called "managed" part of this switch. As best as I can tell, its not managed in any way. Not sure if I get a returned one and someone already messed with it, but I suspect its not managed at all, even though the casing and the manual says it is. There is no reset button or a console interface anywhere on it, so I find it hard to believe its managed. In the end I gave up because I did not want the managed side of things anyway, so it works for me in either case, so I'm not knocking a star off for it, but really I should. I am a little bummed to not have found it, because I wanted to see if there was some fan control setting. While the fan is not overly loud, if its quiet in the room, I can hear the fan spin up and slow down constantly, and I would rather have it on a constant "on" setting, but I could not find a way to change this. Otherwise it seems perfect. I cannot at this time test the full 10G speed as only my Mac-mini which I'm using as my file server supports it using a thunderbolt adapter, but I was able to test with a 5G USB-C 3.2 adapter on my main computer and got close to the 5G with a transfer to the file server, so I'm happy for now. Once I get a 10G adapter for my main computer, I can try again. My router which also has a SFP+ socket is detecting the connection at 10G along with the Mac-mini, and my PC of course only connecting at 5G, but it seems to be working. I wish I could make a screenshot of the speeds, but since getting things set up, I don't have the 10G adapter on my Mac in the best place on the chain so the speeds have been reduced since my first testing, so I need to re-think things. I will probably need to get the new Mac-mini with 3 x Thunderbolt 4 ports and a built in 10G so I don't need to rely on the adapter and have bandwidth issues with my RAID arrays. UPDATE 08/14/26: So far its still working great. I've been very happy with this switch. I've since gotten my main computer's hardware upgraded to 10G as well as my mac mini with an integrated 10G adapter to solve my issues with the thunderbolt and its been perfect. Really fast transfer speeds to my RAID array. I've also since been able to reach the managed part of it. I am still not sure how I had so much trouble when I first got it but I decided to try again and had no issues this time. I was able to update its firmware and browse its functions, most of which I don't need although it was nice to be able to enable jumbo frames. Sadly, there does not seem to be any fan control options, just the ability to see its current RPM. I've since gotten used to its noise but I may take the suggestion of another user and replace the internal fan with a Noctua fan. Clearly I did not want to do this when it was new as I did not know how it would work long term, but now that its warranty is past, I see no reason not to. I wish I could find a unit like this with mixed ports that also supported PoE for about the same price, but for now it does the job well.

This is a review of the 5 port 10G managed switch. I'm giving it 5 stars because of how easy it was to configure. I have port 1 on vlan 1 plugged into an unmanaged switch for multiple devices on my office network, port 2 on vlan 10 plugged into an unmanaged switch for the private network in my home lab, and port 3 on vlan 20 plugged into a 3rd switch for the public network in the lab. My router is a Firewalla Gold. Setup involved creating the vlans in the Firewalla and then creating the vlans and assigning the ports on the Sedola. 10 minutes from start to finish. Don't forget to hit the "Save" button at the top right corner if you don't want to have to set everything again after it reboots. The instruction booklet is printed such tiny print that I had to get my readers and a magnifying glass to read it. If it says what the default login and password are, I couldn't find it. But I guessed admin/admin based on experience with other switches. I don't think it would eliminate all of Sedola's profits by making the instructions about 5 times bigger typeface and adding a sentence which tells you what the login and password are. But everything worked out and I like this switch enough to buy more in the future, so I won't ding it a star for the instructions being on a microdot.

Decent basic switch, but can be great with better firmware. In my case, the requirements were straightforward, needed simple web management with the ability to run VLAN, spanning tree, and SNMP for monitoring, with good throughput. And, it needed to be affordable. This switch mostly fits the bill. Here are the pros and cons. Pro: Easy to configure, can be up in minutes. Affordable. Ready to configure out of the box without console access. Had no trouble with link speed negotiation with any of my other switches or desktops. Came up as 10g with cat5e cabling (surprised the heck out of me). Good throughput, saturates the 1G switch connected downstream No issues with spanning tree. Hasn't crashed on me yet after a week of use. No traffic loss Cons: Questionable support. The vendor's website has firmware updates, but will they support it for the future? Runs hot. Bottom of the switch is almost too hot to touch when operational, even with the fan going. The fan is loud, so placement is best in a garage or attic. The firmware is just goofy. Doesn't work on all browsers No graphs to indicate link utilization, which my zyxel from 5 years ago has link utlization graphs. Durability and reliability are yet to be determined. I hope the switch lasts, cause I don't know if the vendor will honor any warranty, so I am on the fence if I want to keep it or put more money and get one from a reputable vendor who stands behind their product.

The hum of the small fan is too loud to make this switch suitable for a living space, like an office. If you can put it away in a closet with decent ventilation, do not hesitate to get this switch as its functionality is great for the price.

Works like a champ till it overheats! Just keep it cool ! :-) For a Managed Switch the Software could be better & show bandwidth summaries, etc. My other QNAPs Switches work fine with it.

I have two Win11 PCs and two Asustor 5402 NAS units and needed to get 5Gb data transfers between all 4 devices. Win11 has SMB Multichannel Enabled by default. Add two 2.5Gb network cards to each PC with CAT6 or better cables to 4 ports on the switch. Asustor units already have dual 2.5Gb NICs, just have to easily enable SMB Multichannel and then 4xCAT6 cables to the switch. Add a SFP module to port 9 with the speed you need to connect to your router, I used 2.5Gb. That's IT! Everything works Automatically! I get Sustained 565Mb/sec data transfers SSD to SSD. Hard Disks are just not fast enough and the data transfers will be sawtoothed 120Gb/sec to 500Gb/sec. This is a $100 solution to easily get 5Gb speeds. This will work PC to PC or PC to any NAS with 2x2.5Gb network ports. If you deal with 4K videos, this setup saves a huge amount of time moving files around. FYI: SMB Multichannel Only works within one switch, you cannot daisy-chain switches - so 9-ports are required for 4 clients.

Premessa: ho una rete a 10Gb con collegamento con ethernet cat 7 tra modem e computer. La velocità reale con collegamento diretto è di 7Gb. Detto questo, quando ho collegato lo switch in cascata tra modem e computer tutto collegato con ethernet cat7 la velocità è crollata a 4.2-4.5Gb. Non mi aspettavo le prestazioni di uno switch di marche più famose e più costose ma comunque non ritengo accettabile un calo cosi importante di velocità. Effettuato il reso dopo un paio di giorni

Devo ancora fare dei test di connettività per capire come gestisce i 2,5gbps, allo stato attuale, basandomi sui led tutte le porte dovrebbero sfruttare quella banda. Nel mio caso è collegato in cascata ad uno switch 2,5gbps managed e poi al modem.

SL-SWTGW2C48NS works perfect as my top level switch. Be sure to update the firmware after setting the IP (I configured it to use DHCP and added the MAC address to my router [main DHCP server] to give it a hardcoded static IP). The management functions work perfectly, and use the 4 10Gbe base-T connections to my workstations and NAS (20Gbe LACP). The rest of the SFP connections are to other managed 2.5Gb sub switches (Sodola SL-SWTW215AS) and a 10Gb SFP+ managed switch (Sodola SL-SWTGW2C8F).

Works fine and does get the speed. No setup needed just plug in and go. Nice compact size.
