Another great EDC from Sofirn! Bright, utilitarian, and well built!
This flashlight is another great addition from Sofirn. The size, shape, and weight feels great in the hand. Love how bright it is, especially with the smooth stepping for the perfect brightness, same for the side light. The magnetic base makes this great for working under the hood of your car as it'll just hang on its own and having the side or both lights active really lights up the area! It has great build construction, pretty sure you could drive your truck over it and it would survive no problem. Love that it uses a 21700 battery which offers great battery life, and as always, USB-C is a MUST on new devices, which this thankfully has. The color option on the side is pretty cool as you can light an area with whatever light you want and the color range is bright and spectactular. The only thing I would ask more of from this light, is that Sofirn offer Anduril 2.0 as an option, and maybe add a fading and dimming option to the color so that it would transition between all the colors on it's own and change the brightness of the color. These are very minor details and would not prevent me at all from buying this light. If you're looking for a new daily carry, pick this up and it'll keep you lit up.

Very handy and powerful light
This is a feature packed light. First the main beam is a very bright, relatively focused beam that on turbo is very impressive. The side panel has two modes, warm white and adjustable color. The warm white is great to light up an area and on turbo is very bright. Both the main beam and the white side panel can be adjusted from very low, ie moonlight, to turbo. You can adjust the brightness either in steps (L,M,H, Turbo) or set it to a continuous ramp up/down. Both white lights can also go into strobe, SOS, or beacon modes. When using the side panel in color mode you can pick the color by holding the button as it rotates through the various colors. You can also have the color flash/blink. It is not a rapid strobe, but a typical blinking. You cannot adjust the brightness when using the color mode. It is bright enough to be an indicator, but not super bright. One note, when you have the main beam on turbo the light gets pretty warm quickly and begins to ramp down the brightness after a few minutes. This is pretty expected with how much light is coming out of such a small package. There just simply is not enough metal mass to dissipate the heat. Basically use turbo sparingly when needed. There are four main modes: Main beam, white side panel, color side panel, Main & White panel together. My light is what is being referred to as V2 which has a manual lockout mode which for me is preferred over the V1's auto lockout. This light can also be used as a power bank to recharge your phone or other usb device. This brings me to my last note. The usb port is very narrow. Not all usb-c cables are going to fit. Obviously the usb-a to usb-c cable they provide for charging works just fine, but for powerbank c-c use be sure to check that your cable will fit.

I gave it a second chance and am not disappointed that I did.
Update 12/5/2024 - Sofirn reached out a few months ago and provided me a replacement free of charge to review again. I accepted and after using the light for the last few months off and on I have had no issues charging, or operating the light. Maybe my original one was defective, I guess time will tell. I would like to add that this replacement does not have a mooshy button, like the first one so I am very happy to see that issue has been resolved. The button has a nice inaudible, yet tactile click when you are pressing it. Two thumbs up for that. Now my only real issue is the strength of the magnet. Due to the weight of the assembly the magnet is really insufficient for mounting in any other position than vertical. If you attach it to steel in any other position it does not take much jostling for it to fall off, and possibly break like my IF 23 Pro that was also provided for review by Sofirn. That review can bee seen here - https://www.amazon.com/Flashlight-Rechargeable-Magnetic-Emergency-Camping/dp/B0DJQR645S. Sofirn has no editorial input on this review. All of this review is mine and mine alone. I have changed my original 5 star rating to 1 star after the fire, and now back to 4 stars after the last couple months of use. This review will be updated further if any noteworthy concerns arise. ______________________________________________________________________ Update 12/16/2023 - It literally caught on fire this evening while it was charging powered off. If I would not have have been setting in total silence and heard something inside the light pop, it's hard to speculate how bad of an evening I truly would have had. Once I heard the slight pop I started looking around and noticed smoke coming out of the charging port. I pulled the cable out and behind the port, inside of the aluminum body it was glowing a very bright orange and was starting to release a significant about of smoke. I pulled the battery out of the unit as I was ran to throw it in the yard. After a few minutes the smoke stopped and all is well, but christ. I wish I would have grabbed my phone to snap a video. Avoid this flashlight at all costs. And yes, this all happened within 90 days of ownership, and it's not my EDC flashlight. ______________________________________________________________________ Original review after receiving 09-26-2023 - I have a love hate relationship with this flashlight. I bought it because I'm a flashlight nerd and it looked cool af, and with it's options it does not disappoint. However, right off the bat my biggest, and really only gripe is the button. The button that you have to do EVERYTHING with, is the worst button ever. If you've ever had to pick up dog poo with those little plastic bags and accidentally poked the poo with a finger instead of getting the "C" clamp around so you can feel the warm mooshy goodness in the palm of your hand, that's what that button feels like. Minus that warm feeling. And because it's just moosh when you press it, half the time you press it nothing happens, or the sequence you are attempting to input does not work properly because one or more of your presses does not register. It's legit crap. So because of the crappy button, you have to make sure every press is pressed like it's the last press you're ever going to press, and that is hella frustrating. And that is the hate. So much hate for the button. But the love, oh the love I have for this light. It's brilliant. It says 4000 lumens, and I have to believe that it is all of that. And it's a good combination of spot/flood that still has good central projection with a nice bleed off on the edges. And the side area light is likewise bright, though obviously not 4000 lumens it is no slouch. Of course you can toggle each individually, or if you feel the need to light a room you can toggle both to operate simultaneously. DO NOT LOOK AT THE LIGHT WHILE BOTH ARE ON, AND AT MAX ILLUMINATION. You will die. You have been forwarded. The are so many buttons combinations when it comes to operating this light (stupid mooshy button) and i will list them below. First thing is if the light has sat off for more than a few minutes you have to turn it on with a double press, which turns the side light on to a preset lower level. It does this to lock the light if you are carrying it in your pocket and then if you should happen to turn it on it doesn't go into a mode to start your pocket on fire...I assume. Unlocked light, light off. 1. Single press - Headlight at the last level you used it on. 1.1. Now double press - Headlight at Max 1.1.1. Now triple press - Headlight shuts off, Sidelight on at Max 1.1.1.1. Now quad press - Change dimming mode from either Stepped increase/decrease or Fade brighter/dimmer. A double flash happens if the quad press properly registered. 1.2. Now double press again - The strobe zone. Each subsequent double press will switch between SOS, Beacon, and random strobe. A single press will revert back to always on at the initial level. 2. Double press - Sidelight comes on at a preset lower level 2.1. Now double press - Sidelight at Max 2.1.1. Now double press again - the strobe zone. Each subsequent double press will switch between SOS, Beacon, and random strobe. A single press will revert back to always on at the initial level. 3. Triple press - Pretty color lights. The last color you had on will be the color you start on. This is also great if you only use a particular color. 3.1. Now double press - Pretty light turns into blinking pretty light. If you shut it off blinking, it will be blinking the next time you turn pretty lights back on. Double press again to revert. 4. Quad press - Manually lock light. After this it will take two presses to unlock again. Bonus - if you press and hold the button WHILE LOCKED you will get moonlight out of the head end. Not actual moonlight, but definitely a good analog. The dimming. If either headlight or sidelight is on, holding down the moosh button will brighten the light. Release when you achieve the desired brightness. Now, if you press and hold the moosh button again within a very small window of time from pressing to brighten, the light will begin to dim. Again, release when you achieve the desired output. NOTE - This is not what happens with the pretty lights. Moosh and hold the moosh button to cycle through the various color options. Now, if you press and hold the moosh button again within a very small window of time from pressing to change the color, it will cycle backwards through the color sequence. So, that's about it. Other features it has are a decent magnet in the battery cap, and a nice double clip, but i don't know if I'd want to have that light hanging off the bill of my my hat too long. It is aluminum construction, but has a 21700 battery so it isn't light. It's got a bit too much chonk to be an EDC light because it takes up a bit of space in yer pocket, but it's on my night stand never out of reach. Oh, and it's rocking USB C charging, along with being a reverse power bank should you ever need it! God do I hate that button though.

My new EDC!
I've been a big fan of Sofirn's products for several years now. I've never been disappointed by any of the products I've purchased from them, and the IF23 is no exception! There is so much to like about this powerful little light. The main beam is very bright, and does a good job flooding an area with light, especially in turbo mode. The sidelight is also very useful, especially if you're using it night in low light conditions, and switch the color to red. It was great for not ruining night vision during the night on a recent camping trip. I really appreciate the power bank feature on the light, which means I no longer have to carry a powerbank around in my pack anymore! The construction of the flashlight feels very solid, durable and feels well balanced in my hand. The firm button on the side of the light means that you won't accidentally be turning it on or switching modes uninentionally. The magnetic tailcap is also another nice little feature that I haven't used on this light yet, but have in the past, and it's super useful especially if you need to work on your car at night. You can't beat the price on a light with all of these features, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another one in the feature!

Great until smoke came out it!
Smoke comes out of charging port! Works great. Very bright. Cool feature of changing colors on COB light. But ! One issue after having this a little over a year is that I plugged it in to charge it and after a couple of minutes on the charger, there was smoke pouring out of the charger port. I unplugged it and found that the light still would function, but the charger port is no longer working. What good is it if I canโt recharge it again? It was good while it lasted, but Iโm concerned about the smoke coming out, potentially causing a fire. Glad I saw it when it happened instead of leaving it unattended.

Honestly fantastic
We live in the golden age of flashlights. There are literally thousands on the market and most of them are junky and/or overpriced. But this one is quite amazing even at full price. Yes the โUIโ is a series of single, double, triple, and quadruple taps of the button, which normally I do not like, but for some reason I really like the way this model implements it. Not hard to figure out. Huge battery that charges in place via usb-C. Magnetic base. Super bright main light. A very right side light which can also go into RGB mode. And actually useful โemergency/beaconโ modes. If this was from a traditional name brand flashlight maker, or even Olight, this item would go for at least quadruple the price and would still be worth it. If you collect โcheapโ flashlights this will likely be the best one you own. If you collect expensive name brand flashlights this will be the one you use the most due to its versatility and low price point.

All-in-1 RGB sidelight, Power bank, & 4000 Lumen light
I have now had this for a few weeks to test & here are my thoughts: This is a 21700 light, which means its bigger and stronger than the smaller EDCs. It's made by sofirn which is a very reputable company and known for value on budget lights. Its Using the XHP50B Emittoe which is a good LED Good LED. Orange peel reflector really give is a nice Floody throw with a little hotspot Things I like: Magnet tail cap (side light) Looks and feels really good The button reminds me of the Wurkkos TS10, which I love. Type C charging Reverse charging (power bank) capability. Direct Access to Stroble & Moonlight Very bright close to 4K lumens The LED is a really powerful one, floody and spotlight good. Throw is decent. Side lights Not a cob is White As well as RGB White has 3 Light Modes Great for cars or other work RGB is cool and practical (10 Colors) Great for bikers (back of bike) Some things I don't like: Auto lock out is annoying No Anduril on a light at this price point Pricey for sofirn Gets Hot Pretty Quickly As many others have complained side RGB do not have brightness adjustment Only can get 4k lumens with high output battery Charging port hole is too small for many of my typc c cables. (Included cable works fine) Overall I'm very impressed. It's really a d0-it-all-light. Great for any kind of mechanic and plumbing work. I used this side bar and magnet tail cap for changing tires and it's great. I would not EDC this light because Its a 21700 Plus it is a much heavier light, especially becasue of the Side LED's. The user interface is pretty solid and easy to use.

Versatile
The IF23 feels pretty big in hand compared to the SC31. It's not a bad thing but just something to take note of. The battery lasts me forever due to its 5000mAh battery. Like the SC31, it's well built abd has lubed Orings and threads out of the box. It's extremely bright when comparing to the smaller brother (SC31). I don't need to use the turbo mode alot but when I do it's more than enough for me. I have bee. Using it daily for almost 2 weeks and haven't recharged the battery besides the first time I opened the box. I've used it every day so far testing out all the different brightness and modes. There is one thing that does bother me with this light and that's the UI. It's not very intuitive for the average user but once you start using it, it becomes second nature. If you keep the brightness on the main light at a certain brightness, then you switch to the side light it keeps the same level of brightness mode. It would have been nice to have it remember the last brightness setting used when toggling between the front and side lights. I've tried using the led rgb mode but it seems a bit gimmicky. I cannot change the brightness when using this mode. Other than the UI and rgb mode this flashlight is great. I don't think I need to charge it for a other week or 2 at the least. I'd like to mention that both the side light and the front light are very bright . I usually keep it on medium mode for the front light and high for the side light. The tail cap being magnetic is a nice touch as well. Very handy when using it when working on my car doing fluid changes.
