#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER โข THE INSPIRATION FOR SEASON 2 OF PRIME VIDEOโS WE WERE LIARS The addictive prequel to the TikTok phenomenon We Were Liars : the story of another summer, another generation, and the secrets that will haunt them for decades to come. LOOK FOR THE LATEST NOVEL IN THE WE WERE LIARS UNIVERSE, WE FELL APART ! "I anticipated that at some point a shocking twist would come. And, wow, does it ever." โ The New York Times "A perfect beach read." โ The Boston Globe A windswept private island off the coast of Massachusetts. A hungry ocean, churning with secrets and sorrow. A fiery, addicted heiress. An irresistible, unpredictable boy. A summer of unforgivable betrayal and terrible mistakes. Welcome back to the Sinclair family. They were always liars. Donโt miss any of the We Were Liars novels WE WERE LIARS โข FAMILY OF LIARS โข WE FELL APART Review: Great Book - If you liked We Are Liars then you will like this book! This book provides you with the back story of the family. Just like the first one, there are many surprises! Review: 4.5 Stars - Loved this YA coming-of-age/ family drama. I didn't realize it was YA when I chose it, I wasn't sure I would like it but I found it relatable. SUMMARY This is the prequel to โWe Were Liars,โ which I haven't read but will be starting tonight. The book opens with Carrie getting a visit from the ghost of her recently deceased teenage son. He asks her to tell him about the worst thing she has ever done. She proceeds to tell him the story of the summer that changed her life. Carrie, her sisters, parents, cousins and uncle always spent summers on their private island outside of Cape Cod. This summer, her 17th summer, things were different. They lost her youngest sister the summer before and everyone was still suffering, but silently. But on the plus side, all the kids on the island were teenager so there was teenage drama and there were teenage adventures. And, her cousin brought boys... What began as a summer full of promise ended with a life altering event that simultaneously bonded the sisters for life and put a huge wedge between them. WHAT I LOVED The story was great, the characters were memorable and the setting was my dream setting. I get annoyed with stories that focus so heavily on details that the plot gets lost, this was the perfect mix, of detail versus plot. Loved it all. WHAT I DIDN'T LOVE I mostly loved everything about this novel. As an adult reading YA, I couldn't help but judge the parents sometimes. A lot of what happened with the kids was a product of a lack of supervision. OVERALL This is an extremely well written novel. I highly recommend it for all ages (probably not appropriate for younger than 14 or 15 year olds). I am starting the other book in the series the second I finish this review. ๐

Such a great story
An amazing book! Highly recommend! Definitely read the sequel too. Entertaining and a fast read! HOWEVER, the quality of the book is very poor. It is already falling apart after less than a week. Very disappointed in the quality.

Surpasses the original!
If you loved We Were Liars, this prequel is an absolute must-read that you won't be able to put down. I was honestly skeptical at first because the original story left such a massive impact on me, and I wasn't sure if a prequel could live up to that magic. This book didn't just meet my expectationsโit completely shattered them. The character depth, the haunting atmosphere, and the intricate family secrets kept me hooked from the very first page. It adds so much rich layers to the Sinclair family history while standing perfectly on its own. It is brilliantly written, beautifully paced, and honestly even better than the first book. Highly recommended!

โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธยพ โ Endearing, but didnโt hit quite as hard as the first.
I read Family of Liars in one sittingโit was emotional, atmospheric, and I appreciated getting a deeper look at the Sinclair familyโs older generation. It added layers to the world of We Were Liars and gave me a better understanding of the โgrown-upsโ from the original story, which was really cool to see unfold. That said, while I found the characters compelling and the writing beautiful as always, the plot just wasnโt quite as gripping. It lacked the same punch and urgency that made We Were Liars such a standout. Still, if youโre a fan of the first book, this prequel is worth the read for the backstory and emotional depth alone. #FamilyOfLiars #WeWereLiars #ELockhart #YAFiction #BookReview #EmotionalReads #YAReads #SinclairFamily #BookTok #Bookstagram #ReadersOfInstagram #PrequelStory #OneSittingRead #BookishThoughts #BeachReadVibes

Good prequel
Wife watched/enjoyed the "We Were Liars" series and wanted to read this prequel. Entertaining read and she's looking forward to this story being turned into a TV series.
