**Q: Why the manufacturer is written as "China" in the "Product Information" section ?**
A: The item is made in Japan. 
That notation is the information that was displayed due to a system error on Amazon.

**Q: Do you have to keep tapping with a hammer between passes like the video shows?**
A: Not sure what video you saw, but when you get it where you want, it is good to go for many passes. Found it also good to back the blade out when I am not using it, also rest it on the side to protect the blade. This is a work horse for such a small block plane, and if you keep it sharp, you will enjoy using it.

**Q: Will this plane be suitable for working with hardwoods?**
A: When I got it I just honed it & I trimmed a whole house.....extension jambs,baseboard,door and windows and it stayed sharp the entire time.  My bailey would have never lasted that long without a touch up .    The blade is fairly thick and has a slight hollow ground.    Maybe that's the key.

**Q: how the blade of this plane made? Traditional Japanese style? Or just all one metal?**
A: This one has a blade /ha/ and a chipbreaker /ura-gane/. You insert the blade behind the crossbar and add the chipbreaker in the middle, finally tapping on the chipbreaker for a super tight fit. Be careful though, the chipbreaker is just as sharp as the blade itself. As far as I know, this two-piece setup is the traditional Japanese way, and as such, this plane is pulled (right hand across the flat wood, left hand behind the blade, supporting the butt). Tap the butt of the base /kanna-dai/ to release the blades again.
