Overall, a really good formicarium, especially for beginners. The build quality is solid, and everything arrived intact and working properly. The magnetic connections between the chambers are a nice touch and work very well. The darkened nesting area also does its job perfectly, which is important for the ants. It did turn out smaller than I expected, but that’s on me — I didn’t pay enough attention to the dimensions provided by the manufacturer. The kit comes with everything needed to get started, which makes it a great option if you’re new to ant keeping. My ants haven’t moved in yet, but I’m looking forward to setting it up soon. Overall, very satisfied — 5 stars since everything works as described and arrived in perfect condition.

My son loves it. If your child is into stuff like that it is a great product for you to try. It keeps him busy for a while to watch these ants build their habitat. I also like to watch the ants on the move.

The queen ant showed up dead. Of the 24 other ants only 12 or so were still alive.

I bought this for my 12-year-old son and it's been a hit. I didn't realize ants could be so interesting! I did add some tape to hold the "garbage" room tighter to the main room. I'm sure it'd be fine without it, but it seemed to have a little teeny tiny lean to it which led me to believe an ant could crawl out. I bought a few red harvester ants off of Amazon (Insect Lore Tube of Ants) and they seem to be enjoying their home! I'll eventually buy some extension pieces and it looks like they'll fit just fine.

Great starter kit. If purchasing for a young kid, you may need to use clear tape to make sure the lids, and water container stay in place. The magnets are quality, but little hands may accidentally bump them out of place allowing ants to escape. Super fun for family!

The original ant farm came with a broken glass piece. The company said to keep the original and they would send a replacement. They did so and I'm very grateful for their generous help with this. My grandson loves the ant hive and now can get the ants for it now that he has an intact unit. Thank you very much!

A bit smaller than expected that's on me though. The ants seem to love it! Looked scratched up at first, but that's because I didn't realize I left that wrap on. Oops.

-1 star for absolutely missing documentation. I have no idea what I should do with this farm before moving ants, or how to use the water tower -1 star for loose wobbly garbage room that does not match the size of the farm (sits above the floor and extends 0.5 cm past the big room end). And it's very very very loose. Was it hard to make some pin to hold in in one place? Good part - it came very nicely packed and nothing is broken
