The book refines this theory down to its core essence and is accessible to most although some may find themselves needing to refer to previous works on the ITE by Gilder to give added background and understanding. In this edition he introduces the concept of 'time-prices' which completes the theory by measuring the creation of new knowledge by time - 'you pay in dollars and cents but the true cost is in hours and minutes' needed to work to pay for the good or service at hand. A deeply philosophical and practical look at the nature and creation of wealth that once again elevates the non-material characteristics and qualities of humans that generate material wealth and abundance. WEALTH = KNOWLEDGE, GROWTH = LEARNING, MONEY = TIME. The key element in all of this is SURPISE which is the effect of true CREATIVITY and therefore INNOVATION.For some of us GILDERITES, not quite the Magnum Opus we were perhaps anticipating and I felt that the transcript was perhaps over edited/refined taking away some of the trademark Gilder incisiveness and visionary dimension to make the concepts and book more accessible to a wider audience. I would have liked him to connect the content with some of his writing on 'mind over matter' and creativity of the mind and more on the negation of marxism etc to give more of a broader-based visionary dimension which is Gilders trademark. However, the book is well thought through and presented from what can be a very complex topic/s and is made crystal clear for new and former readers and followers of Gilder and/or the field of economics.
