Can the travel tray stand on its sides?

It cannot stand on its own as with all foldable travel trays for kids. The kids travel tray is meant to rest on your child’s lap and the sides, which are made of fabric - are pockets for toys, other art materials, or snacks that hangs along the sides

It's a lap tray designed to rest on your child's lap, with a 3mm thick surface that's sturdy enough to support the pressure applied with everyday activities like coloring, drawing & snacks. However, it doesn't have hard legs & cannot stand on its own

What are its dimensions?

It is 16in (length) and 12in (width). The side flaps are 4in (height) while the side pockets are 7in (height).
