desertcart.com: TempPro TempAir Indoor Outdoor Thermometer Digital Wireless Hygrometer | Temperature Humidity Monitor with Jumbo Touchscreen and Backlight Humidity Gauge,LCD : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Review: TP65 Far Exceeds Expectations - ***Edit/Update: 11/24/25 This is a new added unit to my old one that was a workhorse for many years. I had to add one for the home with a new remote sensor because the old one got soaked in water. Nobody’s fault. Still a great unit, fired right up. Really like this touchscreen thermometer! Definitely worth it! Original post: What a great hygrometer! I must say that after reading a whole lot of negative reviews, I was a bit apprehensive about buying this meter. There are however a few that spoke very well not only of this model, but also excellent customer service. And I agree 100%. PROS: Honestly it was a BREEZE to set up, though just to be sure, I watched the video tutorial posted under the listing. I did decide to use quality lithium ion energizer AAs to gain better life and stability in extreme temps. Once the batteries were installed, the remote unit paired right up with the base station. No fuss, no issues whatsoever. *Note - Yes, the battery tray on the indoor base unit looks counter intuitive, but it’s not difficult. As with any electronic gadget, it is wise to be gentle! Signal strength- Amazing! I haven’t walked the actual distance with a measurement device but I set the remote sensor around twists and turns, walls and load bearing structures to place out of direct sunlight in our front door walk area. I’ve tried every room in the 4BR home with zero signal drop. The only way I got it to “force” drop was to take it across the home & out to the furthest part of the backyard patio. (Far beyond 300 feet) No problem reconnecting with the base once it’s back in range either! It just automatically links up. Accuracy: What are the negative reviews about?? I’ve tested it from lows & highs, relative humidity with weathermaxpro and National Weather Service, and it is near identical to reports. Well within any degree of +- Id ever have use for. Talking <1degree, and that is subjective as temps vary from the tarmac where local temps are taken here in AZ. The rel humidity is spot on, and yep I’ve got a pro level Air Quality Meter that I cross referenced it with. I’ve set the remote sensor in different rooms, under sinks, front and back - all of which proved to me that I made the right choice in this purchase. Touch Screen: I haven’t even removed the clear protector from the display and it’s still easily tactile. I didn’t expect that being spoiled by pricey Retina displays. It’s designed well, very user friendly, looks sharp, and most importantly, it WORKS! CONS: None thus far especially at this price point. Of course I’ve only had it set up running 2 weeks. So if any fails or glitches, I’ll update this review. We have a very hot summer ahead as well as the monsoon season which can be especially hard on the little things. Note: I inadvertently hit send before I finished and added photos. So I’m doing that now. 👍 Re +- value between the local posted by Living Earth, it should be noted that we live higher elevation near the mountains so it’s to be expected that a few degrees cooler. The rel humidity in the bedroom is higher bc of a cool mist diffuser I use w essential oils for dry sinuses intermittently.
Review: Accurate and Sensitive, with Easy Setup - I'm actually going to take a bit of time and write a review, because I really think this product deserves it. I've only had it for around two weeks, but so far, so good. I got this wireless thermometer for a bit of an unconventional purpose; as a wireless way to monitor temperature and humidity (mainly humidity) in my Crested Gecko's vivarium. The setup I have really doesn't allow for devices with cords/probes, and reviews for thermometer/hygrometers that were actually made for pets were pretty dismal. So, after seeing this new ThermoPro product with great reviews, I decided to give it a try (my gecko has a pretty big viv and he loves exploring new things, so the addition of a small sensor wouldn't bother him). The outdoor sensor seems to be working great thus far, no major erratic swings in readings at all (unless I do something to make it change, like misting the viv). It's waterproof, but you do need to have it upright so that water doesn't enter the sensor at the bottom. It has a little hole at the top that I threaded a paper clip and string through so I could hang it on a vine. It also has a bright red light that flashes every 30 seconds or so when it sends data to the main monitor, which I worried might bother my gecko, so I carefully covered the solid plastic and red light with dark painter's tape, leaving all the sensors and compartment-opening-points still exposed, and now the light is not noticeable at all, unless you're really hunting for it at just the right angle. Adding the tape did not affect the temp/humidity readouts at all; they stayed the same after applying the tape as they were before. The main readout monitor itself is really nice. It took me a few tries to really get the hang of the controls, but since there's only 3 buttons to tap, it's not that hard. Touch screen is hyper-sensitive, and the backlight (which I thought I would never use) actually is handy since it's positioned in a room that gets hardly any light after sunset, and the numbers can be hard to see if I want to check them in the evenings. But this room is exceptionally dark; the contrast on the readout is more than enough to be easily read in a normally-lit room. As far as accuracy goes, I have to say that it is accurate simply because it says the same things several of my other gauges do. I have one mercury-style thermometer, one analog thermometer, one thermometer/humidity laser gun, and one analog hygrometer. Between all those devices, the numbers really don't change. If anything, I would say my temp gun is the least accurate, but only because it isn't measuring the temp of the air, but the temp of the material it's pointed at, which varies greatly. Therefore, its accuracy is not quite in the same category. At any rate, I just got up and checked all the gauges, and they're identical to what this ThermoPro wireless device says. I find it hard to believe that so many different devices could all be wrong in the exact same way, so I believe this one is accurate. Setup was fairly quick and simple, and took way less time than the directions indicated; so much so that I set it all up twice just to be sure I did it right the first time. Same results, so it looks like it's all correct. All in all, it's shaping up to be a great little device, and I'm glad I got it. It gives me peace of mind to know that everything's the way it should be in my gecko's home with just a quick glance at the screen (which I placed on a nearby bookshelf), and I love knowing the temperature/humidity of my own home, since I did not have any sort of fancy thermostat before (old baseboard heating). I also like knowing that multiple sensors can be registered, so if I ever want to actually put one outside, I can get one and easily do so. If anything changes, I will update this review, but as of right now, I am very happy with my purchase. :)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: how far away will the remote sensor read back to the unit?**
A: The promotion materials on the Amazon website indicate 200'; with good penetration of walls, etc. Our sending unit is located about 50' away from the receiver; hung under a carport to better protect it from the weather; and the signal must penetrate a brick wall to enter the house. We are extremely pleased with it; particularly the large display and back-lighting features; which make it easy to read from across the room by a visually-impaired person. It will probably live up to the 200' straight-line distance claim; but might be affected by obstacles in the line-of-sight; such as parked cars, trees, walls, etc. Hope this is helpful.

**Q: Where can I find the manual?**
A: The unit that I received was the TP-65S. PDF version of this manual can be found here:
https://buythermopro.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Thermopro-EN-DE-FR-IT-ES-TP-65S-instruction-manual-20180503.pdf

**Q: Can this be set so that it doesn't scroll through all three sensors? i only have one sensor and i'd like it to simply display that outdoor temp**
A: I never had a problem with that. My only problem is the remote sensor is registering the wrong temperature. When I suspected this, i brought the monitor in and put it side by side with the main unit. Was off 4 degrees. My AC thermostat said 74, the main ThemoPro unit said 74, but the remote sensor was transmitting 78 degrees. So it's pretty much useless for what I bought it for.

**Q: Is the display visible when not using the backlight?**
A: Yes but poorly when you use the backlight, and it depends from what angle you are viewing it. It is excellent looking down on it from more than 10 degrees. Looking directly at it it is 90% visible. As you tilt it backward it rapidly becomes unreadable (looking up at it). I bought this to put on the wall of my rv and the backlight was completely useless

*by B***E on June 11, 2018*

Therm Pro TP-65 REVIEW: My experiences with this Weather Station are pleasurable. It isn’t always within 2 degrees as description in the specs. It can get 4 degrees perhaps 5 degrees off the real temperature. On the other hand, it is within or around the 2 degree specs on this model many times. It does get right on the money on the temps at times. If you are after a thermometer that is 100 percent accurate then this model is not for you. However, if you are looking for a thermometer that is around the temperature and is usually around 2 degrees off the real temperature and can get 4-5 degrees off the real temperature at times then this thermometer station would be a good choice. My grading would be a B for the accuracy of this model. I do have the Therm Pro TP-65 and the Ambient Weather WS-11 Weather Stations and after testing both of them it seems at this time that both are very similar with accuracy. One is usually high as the other one is lower than each other. Keep in mind also, they are both around 2 degrees off the mark but can be at the real temperature. Throughout the day and night both are good thermometers and I would recommend both of them. On the other hand, I would select the Ambient Weather Station over the Therm Pro because of the extra features. In conclusion, I didn’t use online temperature to compare the real temperature results. I had at hand but not always able to use the red liquid thermometer and the Thermapen by ThermoWorks: model Mk4. Although the Thermapen isn’t a thermometer for air temperature it is always the same on my tests from the red liquid thermometer or about 1 degree from it. I do trust my Thermapen Thermometer because it always pass the cold ice test at 32 degrees and boiling water test at or very close to the 212 degrees (depends on your location for the 212 degrees for 212 degrees is for sea level). You can go back forth from cold to boiling water and the thermopen passes the tests. For cooking food the ThermWorks Thermopen Mk4 would be my recommendation for a good accurate food temperature. Is it good for air temperature? It wasn’t designed for air temperature however my tests show it is very close to my red liquid thermometer in my tests. At times the Weather Station measured by the red liquid thermometer is accurate many times and can be trusted for around this temperature thermometer. I look at it and know it can be off the mark so I consider it is mostly around 2 degrees off the mark can be on the mark and finally can be 3 degrees and not often over – 4 degrees – 5 degrees off the mark. Finally, I am happy with this Weather Station and I would recommend it for approximate temperature around 1-2 degrees maybe 3 degrees off the mark; at times can be 4 to 5 degrees off the real temperature. If you don’t get similar results, it depends on the method you are using for testing the thermometer for comparison. My method for testing my thermometers isn’t scientific and the final decision is yours but it does give references where it is close enough for me to consider for keeping a thermometer or returning it. I decided to keep both of my weather thermometers unless the results of the tests change dramatically in the next few weeks. I am almost finished with my tests and so far I would keep both thermometers. UPDATE: After further study the Ambient Weather W-11 Weather Station is a good buy – continue to be recommended to be accurate around 1-2 degrees and at times can be 3 degrees and perhaps 4-5 degrees off the mark here and there. The main reason to keep it is dependable to give a temperature that is useable information to decide what to do with the information – like approximate temperature – to decide what clothing to wear – is it humid or what the dew points is. I use it to give information for jogging and the information doesn’t have to be extremely accurate but I would like with decent accuracy. I have read other reviews here and perhaps the best solution is to try it for yourself and decide on how much accuracy does you want. Don’t get it if you want 100 percent accuracy because you will not get it most of the time. I get decent accuracy for my needs. Keep in mind, for the value it is unlikely you will get an extremely accurate device but it does serve a purpose of approximate temperatures with many useable features. The Therm-Pro TP-65 gives max-min temperatures for temperatures and humidity for indoors and outdoors. It is a decent Weather Station for daily temperatures and humidity and cost is reasonable. The Ambient Weather W-11 Weather Station would be better than the Therm Pro TP-65 for dew point for max-min temperature which is reset after the time you want it to be and many other features which are beneficial. Good luck picking one out. God bless your decision and enjoy the Weather Station. Return it if you don’t like it; I enjoy both the Ambient Weather W-11 and Therm Pro TP-65. Therm Pro TP-65 costs around $25.99 (doesn’t have all the extras) Ambient Weather WS-11 Weather Station: costs around $34.99 Thermapen® Mk4 costs around $99.99 (at times on sale for $79.99) UPDATE 2: October 13th, 2018 Recently I had a problem with accuracy with the ThermPro TP-65 and I reported it to the company and they sent a new one out and got it in a few days. Excellent customer service and now it is working properly as did the other one at first.
