It is manufactured with a stainless steel tube and 2 x locking bolts with plastic caps which will tighten and hold pole securely in place. The pole support is quite wide. Our parasol pole is only about 1 inch / 25 mm so I put in a length of foam pipe- insulation which keeps it nice and secure. The base arrived well ahead of estimated delivery date. The seller kept me informed about my order. The marble base is just what I have been looking for, and I am very pleased with it. Was thinking for that price it would be some plastic thing painted and coated to look like granite but pretty sure it's real and it weighs a lot as it needs to. I have added a picture and marked it down to 4* though for this bad looking bit on the side where maybe someone has chippd it and filled it or something, it looks awful. I have to make sure I put that bit against the wall so people don't see it.
