Amazing set of bongos
My first set of bongos ever. First impressions out of the box and very satisfied with the build and quality of these drums. As specified plastic shells which suits me as they will be going from venue to venue as part of my drum kit. The sound is great and they really resonate tones hitting differently. The Icing on the cake was taking them along for a quiet jam with our band breakingf in new bass player. He thought I was an exsperienced bongo player, ( no mate first time tonight ever playing them). Played the kit for around 30 years but honest started getting some good rythems going and these bongos sound just great. Ejoyed them so much

eally nice well made strong Bongos for price
Really nice well made strong quality Bongos for price. Finish doesn't look or feel too plasticy and good skins. Take time to tune them well and they produce a lovely tone and rim ring. Very happy with these - maybe the family less so !!

Produces a great sound, well made sturdy instrument.
My first Bongo set I have enjoyed playing with the worship team at my church. Took a little while for me to get to grips with tuning but ok now.

Great sounding
Perfectly good, skin will need tuning a few times for them to get used to the stretch, I found they'd be pitched down a day after tuning them up. But that's normal.

Amazing bongos!
Amazing sound straight out the box; better than wooden ones imo. Very sturdy but light. Also, the shiny black finish is nothing short of sexy.

any bongos made by Menil are quality - including these
they're good bongos, with buffalo heads, as Menil make quality ones. Good value bongos for the beginner to learn with.

Best Semi-Pro Bongo Drums for the Price. Give Your Bongo Heads Some TLC
Best semi-pro bongo drums for the price. They do not come tuned, so you will have to tune them with the supplied tunning wrench. Once you have them tuned, make sure you untune them when you're done playing. This is very important, as you don't want your drumheads to pop over time. You have to give your drumheads a break from the tension it built up while being tuned. Untuning them after you play will release the tension and they will last you longer. I saw a few reviews where they popped the Macho (the smaller drum). The Macho carries a higher pitch therefore it is a bit tighter than the Hembra (bigger drum) while tuning. I always untune my Hembra 1/4 turn and the Macho 1/2 turn after playing. Always wipe down your drumhead and shell after playing. I like to use regular Kleenex on the drumheads as it softer and absorbent. Absorbs the moisture off the drumheads left by your hands. They're not difficult to tune and top quality. I looked at LP, Tycoon and Toca lowest price models. LP - (Latin Percussion) sub model CP (Cosmic Percussion) for around $99 with 90 days warranty. Toca - Synergy Series are priced around $72, but small heads, 6 - 6 3/4. Tycoon - start off over $100. Meinl - the only one that will give a 2-year warranty. Best semi-pro Bongos and sound quality for the price. The one thing that I dislike about these bongos are the uncommon head size 6.5 - 7.5, if you ever need to replace them you will have to purchase them from Meinl website $36 - $38. Don't forget a little TLC when you're done playing.
