Exceeds my hopes for this book.
I was hoping it would represent or remind me of some of the childhood memories made with my grammy and papa. It is 100% real, country, amish classic country recipes. NO frills, made from the grit of farmers and real authentic home cooking.I have many other books with more complex and sometimes overly written recipes that are still wonderful but not necessary to share the magic in classic home cooking comfort meals. I love this book. I read it like an actual book because it also reads like a self shared home remedies from cleaning silver with potatoes and many other tricks made simple learned from my amazing great and grandparents. I love this book.I usually do not risk making this type purchase without seeing in person. However, with the holidays and missing lost family, I opted to purchase this to remember some of the recipes they listed. It was this for me and so much more. Easy no frills butAmazing classic homecooking plus Amazing tips for the household and historical sharing from amish nationwide. Thank You!!! Merry Christmas and Happy New 'Years! Thank you, for making this great addition to my recipe books. You've mastered keeping the book so simple without losing any steps or quality in the outcomes for meals or dishes. These are exactly the way I learned from my grandparents and aunt.

TASTY SURPRISES
Very happy with the recipes. This is one of the first books that have normal ingredients. My family had the chicken casserole and loved it. My daughter came home with one of those already roasted chickens and found the chicken wasn't completely cooked and donated it to me for my chicken casserole experiment. Baking it for 1 hour and then another 15-20 minutes assured us that chicken was cooked! We served it over rice and next time we're going to try noodles. Great and easy recipe. Next one will be the beef stew. All sound yummy.

A little vague but overall good book
Seems like a nice little book. Maybe Iโm an idiot but there could be more instructions. These are written like the recipe cards I make up after Iโve made a recipe a handful of times and know what Iโm doing and just need a refresher. Iโm sure an experienced cook would have no problem, but for me I need more help lol. What does cooked pumpkin mean? How do I cook it? Do I bake do I scoop do I cook in a sauce pan.Other than a few vague spots I donโt understand seems like an interesting book. A few colorful recipes and a few standards. Iโm excited to try them.

BEAUTIFUL cookbook!!
The first thing I noticed about this cookbook was the beautiful photos! As I started looking at the recipes, I really loved the tips regarding on how to make them better! I also enjoy how simplistic the ingredients are! I have almost all of the ingredients in my pantry already! If that wasnโt enough, spread throughout the book are wonderful, interesting & encouraging thoughts! There are also many beautiful little insights/ treasures about the Amish & Mennonite community! I really felt as I was reading it, that it helped me to understand a wonderful group of people in our world that is either misunderstood or not noticed for the simplicity of their lives! I found this to be an inspirational cookbook as well as a cookbook full of gold mine recipes!I highly recommend this cookbook for anyone who wants to get back to simple basic cooking that doesnโt cost you an arm and a leg! You will truly love the tasty recipes in this book! Not to mention all of the words of wisdom! My hats off & a GREAT thanks to all of the wonderful & special people who made this book possible!!!Keep it up! I canโt wait to buy your next volume of cookbook!!

A collection of useful recipes you will use again and again.
I borrowed this cookbook from a friend and had to have one for my own cookbook collection! I like that the recipes are simple and easy to make. The instructions are easy to understand and thorough. I especially love the chapter on breads, I made the banana bread and it's delicious. The hamburger buns turned out well too. I also like that there are recipes in this book that I've never seen anywhere else; like homemade ketchup for example. A chapter on jams and jellies and canning recipes make this book a treasure.
