Mother and Child Floor Lamp - Uplighter & Adjustable Reading Lamp - Satin Silver - Complete with LED Bulbs

The lamp looks great. No leads showing and very stable even on carpet.It was quite tricky to put together. My husband and I are good with DIY but we struggled at times.The instructions sent were poor but reviews were helpful with hints to get round awkward sections.Fitting the small bulb, without cross-threading the screw, was particularly difficult.The top bulb casing does need to be bent to prevent it from showing.Having said that we are VERY pleased with the lamp and it does deserve 5 stars.

You really need two people to assemble, but once done, a good light, just what we needed and the fact that two bulbs were included was a welcome bonus.

Great Product a little fiddly to assemble

This item is received as a "do-it yourself assembly kit".The instructions comprise of 1No sheet which has a diagram of the "Mother & Child Lamp" (MCL) and numbers against it to represent the order in which the parts are to be assembled.To make life simpler for those who decide to purchase this product, here is how I found it best to assemble the lamp;1. Screw the stand (with the cable through it) to the middle (switch) section of the lamp - you will need to pull excess cable through to the base as you marry the 2No ends together2. Screw the 2nd stand to the middle (switch) section of the lamp3. Bolt the other end of the stand (with the cable through it) to the base using the spanner provided - this could be fiddly to align the base and the weight behind it to push the treaded end of the stand through4. Bolt the 2nd stand to the base5. Whilst lying on the floor, secure the "Mother" part of the lamp to the stand using the 2No grub screws using the provided Alan key (I found the screws were already in the hole, with 2No spares provided)6. Fix the dome glass to the "Mother" part of the lamp via the fixings using the screw driver provided and screw the bulb (provided) in place7. Stand the lamp upright. Unscrew the fixing which holds the shade for the "Child" lamp, place the shade in place, screw back in the fixing to secure the shade using the adaptor provided and screw the bulb (provided) in placeFollow the above instructions and you can't go wrong (I hope!!).The base is quite heavy and kept it stable on laminate flooring. However, I needed to place the lamp on carpet where it was slightly wobbly, but since it was in a corner, the walls keep it steady.The lamp is operated via 2No independent turn switches (1No for the "Mother" and 1No for the "Child" lamps), which simply turn the lamps on or off (the switch/lamp is NOT dimmable).This is a great product and lights-up the room adequately (as background lighting) with either one or both lamps switched on - well recommended!!

Assembly instructions very poor. Screw thread to connect upright was bent and unusable, very poor quality control. Returned for refund.

Product came in pieces and did not have any clear instructions how to erect it. Once constructed it is not upright and sturdy . It twists in the middle and leans at a jaunty angle.It can only be used in a corner where the angle is not so noticeable! Disappointing!

Very happy with quality apart from installing the mother lamp shade, which was a bit tricky, and ended having to reshape it. Upright and sturdy, no lean like some models in the past after a short while. Although fitted with dimmer switches, these types of bulbs don't but then I didn't expect dimmers as product description was clear that they didn't. Maybe non LED bulbs do, don't care this lamp fits the bill for me. So impressed bought another for another room.
