What’s the recommended max weight for each size? At 44lbs, the large can’t keep my dog afloat, but she’s between a medium and large.

Our dog is a 42lb terrier and the large fits great and keeps her well above the water. I used the measurements on the chart and, like you, came up pretty much in between M & L. I went with large and glad I did.

Will this fit 12lb doxie?

Don’t waste your money on this dog life jacket. The front legs of the dog can get underneath the front and drown the dog.

My puppy is 12 weeks old and this size chart confuses. Her sizes are chest 19, neck 12 and length 14. Anyone know what size I should get?

S is recommended. Dog life jacket is HALF-LENGTH clothing and chest girth is the decisive measurement.

Is the padding in the belly bands buoyant as well? Is it the same foam that is used on the back and neck?

Yes, the material of the foam is the same, the thickness is different.
