This seems well made. I believe the issues that I have had with it are because I thought I could do it better than their directions. The mistake that I made was building a wooden frame behind the wall to adhere this to. I think this would have worked much better had I followed the directions properly and just left it connected to drywall. Make sure that you also allow enough space around it, don't put it near a corner or other drywall intersection, you want to make sure you have enough space around it to finish it properly.

I searched very hard to find an access hatch that doesn’t botch pur ceiling and overall minimalist design. Most ones are plastic, with either plastic covers or other weird shapes or materials. This one is perfect, as it sits FLUSH in the wall/ceiling, using the piece of drywall you just cut out as the lid/cover (or you use the one they included) - I used the cutout as the guarantee to Color Match is pretty much 100% The gap between the frame and the lid is only 2mm (or something like 58/64 if you’re doing the imperial system). Quality is very high, with strong push to open/close mechanism and a braided stainless steel cable as the backup. You won’t find a better one out there!

First of, Byson makes great access panels, but this is NOT one of them. First of all, the 24 by 24 inch product is very flimsy, starting at the frame. When you open the relatively heavy door, it immediately sags. Second, how do you expect to mount this onto the frame without any screw holes along the frame? I had to drill holes into the frame, but this caused it to bend out of square. I ended up returning it, not worth the hassle.

Flush mount, just paint it out!

The product works as advertised. This isn't the easiest install and your results will come down to the preparation and installation. It's not the easiest product to install and finish properly, especially if you are looking for a perfect finish. You should be experienced with mudding and painting to achieve a high quality result.
