Great deal for the money.
This was supposed to be a used (returned) item so the price was great. Everything was still in the original packaging. Only the instructions were missing. They're useless anyway so no big deal. I've watched videos and the machines always seemed clunky buy mine is silky smooth in operation. No problems. These machines have a walking foot but no presser foot so they can only be recommended for leather or very stiff materials.

Rough but functional.
This is a rough tool that works. The included instructions suck but youtube has a lot of videos that address the setup and use. The tool needs to be cleaned and setup when you receive it. The timing was way off on the one I got. It is a project to get it work reliably. Budget at least 10hours. BUT when properly set up it does a really nice job. Good tight, high quality stitches. It will sew as good as the operator when properly set up. If you want to sew leather you will need bigger needles and stronger thread. It will sew very heavy leather stacks. Advice: Throw that silly tripod stand away, it is not worth the effort. I mounted mine on a wood base. All-in-all it is an exceptional value for the money.

Basic but does what it's meant to do very well
Read a lot of reviews, watched a lot of videos, decided to go for it. I LOVE IT.Yes its not refined, so you can put some elbow grease into it and polish it up a bit which also just helps you get to know how the machine operates.Mine worked straight out of the box but I still sanded some edges and painted a few things, gave it kinda a john deere theme. It pays to play with needle and thread sizes etc. This thing will sew thru 1/2" leather easy. I've sewn threw a 3/8" thick book spine I put a cover on (maybe not quite recommended but it did it).I am probably going to purchase a second one so I can move between machines without having to rethread during a project.Purchase extra bobbins! They are small and for a good reason, as that helps the arm of the machine to remain small and able to fit in tight places.

Not a good machine.
Cheap, not ready out of the box, had to make hundreds of adjustments by heating and bending “steel” pieces. It’s terribly difficult to set up and the “stand” that comes with it seems to be rejected tent poles of similar quality as the machine. I wasted my money on it so y’all don’t have to.

Expect to tune it up when you purchase.
This is an awesome little machine. However, for $100 you shouldn't expect it to sew perfectly out of the box. I took my time and over the course of a couple days I cleaned the grease and oil off of it and filed and sanded any rough machining and burrs from it. With minor adjustments and trial and error I can now sew using T70, T90, T105 and T135 thread and up to around 1/4" thick leather. There's only one thing I dislike about the machine and that's the fact that it'll put marks on oil tanned leather due to the rough foot. Some people put heat shrink or plastic dip on the foot to prevent damage to soft leather but I found when I do that the foot doesn't have enough traction to advance the leather.I have also added a stand and a flatbed to my machine. It's a really great machine when you get it setup properly and stitches beautifully.

Very useful machine after you make the needed adjustments
Before you buy this machine you must know that you will have to do some things to it in order to get it stitching smoothly. At the very least you'll need to send down or polish rather the parts that are the most important and need to run smoothly. The bobbin and shuttle are the most important. Just talking about smoothing out the rough edges. This machine was manufactured in a rough state. But with the price , once you've done these few kittle, not fixes but new like finishing touches you can have a machine that's able to stitch just about anything.. I haven't ran into anything it wouldn't get through. You'll need to clean it up good once you've received it because it'll come with a oil film over the surface in order to keep it from rusting. After you've cleaned it you'll want to keep some type of rust inhibitor over the surface to prevent rust as well. Just but the type of oil they used for packaging. Maybe just some w-d40 and I wouldn't keep it in a moist environment either. I haven't had any issue with rust but I also keep mine inside a climate controlled area. All in all,. Once I got everything cleaned and then polished I did a little bit of timimg adjustments. But only because I made the mistake of taking the entire thing apart to clean it and polish the entire surface. I don't recommend doing that unless you are familiar with these machines. It took me a few days before I could get it all back to the correct positioning of each component and for it to have everything synced up to the right timing. So very important, do not take it completely apart unless your know what you're doing. If you do these few things you'll end up with a machine that is capable of stitching anything you throw at it. Take some practice but it is able to give you a good result. Oh one last thing, the stand will not be out best friend. You'll want t just put something together for it to sit on thats much sturdier. Good luck !

Great hobby leather stitcher.
Surprisingly good. This product gets a bad rap, but putting it together was straightforward and easy. The stand is a bit bobbly, but the thing worked with 5 minutes of assembly.Yes, you have to fiddle with it to get tension correct, but it’s worth it when this is $100 and the closest competitor is $1300.This is a fantastic value buy if you are a leather sewing hobbyist who is good with machines.
