Best Amazon Prime Day Purchase Ever
I've been eye-ing this product for awhile and I'm SO glad I purchased it during Amazon Prime Day Sale. Biggest concern I had was the high-pitched noise that everyone was complaining about. I had a $40 fan in my room before this and honestly, Dyson's "high pitched noise" is nothing compared to the cheap fan noise I had before. Filter is SO easy to put in, mobile app is so nice to have, and the little display on the fan itself showing different levels of particles, NO2, HCHO, etc is really nice too! I honestly didn't think I'd need Formaldehyde filtering but to my surprise, my room had high levels of it! I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who has limited space and can't have both a fan and an air purifier in the room without losing floor space. Personally, fan function works good enough to cool me down at night.

Stopped working properly after 3 months
This machine worked great but around the 3 month mark the air quality reading changed to a constant green flat line and the other readings do not register. In addition, the motor makes a loud whirling sound and I can't get the fan to turn off unless I power off the machine which negates the purpose of having a machine that reads the air quality. I tried all the troubleshooting I could find on the Dyson website, community pages, Reddit, etc. but nothing worked.. I then contacted Dyson directly and was given canned responses that were the same as I read on the Dyson website and on their troubleshooting community pages. No help whatsoever. So disappointed. Won't buy a Dyson product again when there are so many other options out there now. Not what I expected from Dyson or a $600 Dyson product.

Does it REALLY? Or not?
First, the good: The Dyson “Formaldehyde” is a great looking piece of modern furniture. It puts out a pleasing amount of air, although not as much as a traditional table fan. It claims that it can clean the air of pollutants. And therein lies the question. Does it really? We usually place the Dyson in our bedroom, which is next to the main bath. The Dyson is supposed to rid the air of “VOE,” or “volatile organic compounds” (think aerosol hair spray, etc.). Getting ready for the day, my wife sprays a bit of it on her hair every morning. The Dyson quickly registers it on the VOE scale. Fine! Except that it sometimes takes HOURS for the indicator to return to the green (clean air) zone, making me wonder if the Dyson is actually cleaning the air or is the air cleaning itself due to normal, molecular dispersal of particles. Also, I don’t think that the Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) detector works at all. Here’s why: to test the NO2 detector, I put the Dyson in my garage with the door closed. Then I started the car, my gas lawn mower and a single-stroke, gasoline lawn tool. I let them run for about five minutes before I started worrying about carbon monoxide and shut off the engines and raised the door. The whole garage smelled of exhaust yet, according to the Dyson, the air was as clean and sweet as a mountain breeze. Next, I put the Dyson beside an open can of gasoline. Same result. Finally, I put the Dyson next to our ignited, natural gas fireplace. Everything was still in the green—pure—range on the Dyson. Getting an answer on the dysfunctional Dyson customer service line is next to impossible (“Your wait time for a live conversation is now 17 minutes…”). Hauling it 20+ miles into a Dyson repair center in Dallas is an all-day mess. So, if any Dyson owner has any suggestions or information, I’d appreciate it. In the meantime, my very expensive Dyson fan quietly purrs out nice air. Whether or not it’s actually CLEAN air is anybody’s guess.

no reason not to buy it if you have dust/any allergies
i love this so much, worth the splurge for allergies. Auto mode is awesome, it’s pretty quiet too unless it’s filtering something out super hard but nonetheless the background noise is unnoticeable. Basement smells good and the formaldehyde option is honestly just for peace of mind down there because of moisture. it’s super cooling and i’ll probably purchase a non-formaldehyde version upstairs in my house knowing how much i like this one now. Dyson is honestly so easy to set up and use, i don’t know why i waited so long to get one. The monitoring system works in real time in sync with auto so you have to do nothing but keep it plugged in and you’ll have clean air for good. stop being lazy and unhealthy and just buy it if you’re on the verge

Love everything about this
This unit is expensive, but the accuracy and control are worth it to me. We bought a different Dyson model for a family member, loved it upon testing, so got this one. We had always feared that our apartment was not properly maintained, and this product set the record straight. this is very quite and makes a very nice fan on hot days as well. All the settings you could want for comfort.

11 month review
It can get loud at higher speeds but it’s mostly quiet up to level 6 of 10. I have this unit and the smaller one and they work really well. It’s remarkable how much they catch even when being conscientious about swapping home HVAC filters. I’ve had the most comfortable allergy season at home with these units.

Some things to know before buying
Why not a 5-star product? I like Dyson, and really would have liked this to workout. Perhaps this is best done in chronological order starting from unboxing: * Only one remote was included - the Amazon description and at least two video reviews indicated there were two remotes (note this product description was current at the time of this review - it may be updated in the future). * There is uncertainly if the filters are asymmetrical or not (i.e. can fit with or without flipping 180 degrees bottom-to-top, or top-to-bottom). The included simple assembly diagram did not say. While one can simply start pushing the filters to see if they fit, I'd rather not do that with such a relatively expensive product, with plastic latching points on the filters. I think the assembly sheet could be slightly more clear whether this was, or was not, necessary. This was minor, but it took a few minutes to determine that it probably (?) did not matter. * Instructions say to download the "Dyson Link" app. There is no app by that name (again, current as of this review). After spending some time looking at apps, the only thing that seemed correct was an app called "My Dyson". While another minor point, I dislike downloading any more apps than needed, and it took around 20 minutes looking to see if this could be an Android vs. Apple naming issue, or a new app, or some other alternate app. It was unnecessary, requiring just a simple update to the included slip of paper. * See photos. Either I already had the cleanest air on the planet to start with, or the unit wasn't fully working--or more likely, the air quality indicators used by Dyson do not reflect the actual impurities of my living space. Really, this did surprise me. My AQI summary, PM10, PM2.5 and even the HCHO formaldehyde registered essentially zero (the latter with a slight blip), right from the moment of startup and for the next 12 hours. Several of the other product video reviews and pictures show how others saw their AQI spike well into the 'red' region, then slowly return to yellow or top of the green scale. Believe me, my place is dusty. I do use a 20 year old original Dyson DC07 vacuum about a 'few' times per year (3 maybe), and also do use a higher MERV-rated filter in the air handler, although hardly the grade to catch the super-small PM2.5 and I didn't even think for the larger PM10. In fact, I'm wiping dust up off of surfaces every week. There is also a "electronics smell" in the office, with all of its cables and electronics. Is this unit really working? It did remove the office smell, and this should be noted. Odors do not have an indicator on the unit (you would use your nose to otherwise notice, of course), and I'm aware that just because the indicator isn't showing all impurities, doesn't mean it isn't working. But to have 0.03 on initial startup, and never go lower? I'm not complaining if my interior air is really that good, but then I suppose I don't need an air filter system, at least of this degree. * I considered keeping the unit only for the fan function. As some will know, Dyson products often work their magic by using a smaller motor working at higher speed, rather than a larger motor working at lower revolutions. While the fan certainly is relatively quiet, the sound it does make is somewhat shrill, perhaps in the 800-2KHz spectrum. This is a problem. I needed a fan that cannot be heard over the PC's camera/microphone, but the TP-09 can be. Ironically, my Lasko box fan can be placed just outside the room in the hallway on speed 2, and throws far more air, yet is essentially inaudible to the microphone due to the lower pitch. The TP-09 has to be much closer to me to notice a similar degree of cooling, perhaps 6"/2m away to have the same effect. At that distance, its noise is picked-up. How could any of this be? Dyson is amongst the pre-eminent fan and air-cleaner brands, and there are so many great reviews. The lack of a second remote might be something to overlook, although I was disappointed by it. In fairness to Amazon and Dyson, there is a remedy to submit a "missing part" prior to deciding on a return. However, the fan's frequency pitch and the virtually negligible effect on air quality really make keeping this a hard sell. I appreciate the more conventional odor removal that it performs, but virtually any carbon filter system will accomplish this at considerably lower expense. For these types of circumstances, the TP-09 just doesn't seem to be entirely suitable.
