Samyang 75mm T1.9 Full Frame Cine Auto Focus Lens for Sony E (SYCAF75-NEX)

One of a series of autofocus cine lines from Samyang. They are sharp, have beautiful bokeh and color, lightweight and record tally lights on the front and side. They have electrical contacts on the front to add a follow focus manual ring and an anamorphic adapter.

I had to revise my opinion after more use. I initially bought this to complete a small kit trio for my Sony a7cii. This lens, the Samyang 75mm t1.9 cine af (f1.8 equivalent) is a competent lens for this kit but could be sharper. My interests are mainly photographic so if you are interested in a video review, lots of other places to check out. Photographically, this lens is decent wide open with auto-focus but a bit better with manual focus. A few stops more at f2.2 and things improve with auto-focus. Use f4 and 5.6 to get the best result. An advantage this has over the other Samyang 75mm non-cine lens is that this one is weather sealed and more solid, but still only 280 g. This is a competent lens photographically in a compact package but its less than stellar sharpness leaves me wanting more. Maybe your copy will be better? For the a7cii sensor 33mp), this is a decent fit. Less so for my a7rv with its 61 mp sensor - I have better much better options for that. So bigger kit vs smaller kit, the Samyang 75mm cine v-af is best used in the latter with a less demanding sensor. In my opinion, the 100mm option is the same series is definitely the better choice as it has better sharpness across the board and can meet the demands of a larger sensor.
