What a piece of junk! That's a very expensive thing for such a short life expectancy. Made four drinks and the motor is frozen. 4 drinks!! I forced it to turn but it's so gummed up that it just won't work anymore. Used the supplied wood chips. So their own material gums up their own equipment and causes it to fail rapidly. A little smoke escapes so the lid isn't quite perfectly fitting either. Oh great. It gets worse. It leaves a stain on the countertop. Apparently smoke goes through the bottom too. I haven't found anything that will remove the stain on our granite countertops.

This was fun to use. Took about 4 cocktails for me to get the timing right. Did not know what the issue was initially so started playing with smoke times. Started with 3, than 4, than 5 minutes of letting the smoke settle into the cocktail itself (make sure smoke can move into the cocktail glass and not sit around it). The difference between 4 min and 5 min was negligible. So 4 min is the sweet spot. But that is the type of smokiness i like, everyones different (YMMV). I was smoking old fashioneds with four roses bourbon. Did one with mezcal as well to be a little extra, but did not notice a strong difference of course (mezcal is a bit smokey as is; so i'm sure this would have the same effect on scotch). For those looking to buy, you do no need to get the whole box. if you want to save some money i'd go with the ones that sit on top of the cup. And not the ones where the wooden piece sits on top of the cup, get the one with the hose to avoid ash falling into your cocktail.

Bought this for my husband for xmas.Works great.Need better instructions.He had to do a couple times to figure it out.Great party gift.
