My daughter is 2 but loves the advert, is she a bit young for this toy?

It's a beautiful soft dolphin - quite big. It does come with a toy dummy and a toy fish which I would suggest is only given to the dolphin with supervision given your daughter is only 2. She will love it !

Has anyone had problems with the battery compartment becoming very hot?

I bought 2 at xmas for my grandkids they play with it for hrs and having just checked with my daughter there have been no concerns over hot battery I hope this helps you

I have recently purchased this and all it seems to do is sleep it's not opened it's eyes do you think there's a fault????

the one I purchased appears to be functioning perfectly. It does all the noises including the sleep one.

Any good for 1 year old?

I am guessing that they will not make full use of all Blu blu's features as they won't understand feeding it and putting the dummy in. The actual doping I would say is safe enough for a 1 year old , not sure about the fish and dummy. My daughter is 5 and quite a few of her friends and older ones have one but don't know many younger ones that have one. Not sure if this is helpful or not!
