Takii Umami Seasoning & Rub, 1 Pack

I've purchased endless amounts of the OG Umami powder that Takii sells in the grey bags and is one of my favorite spices and seasonings that I use (works awesome with stir-fried veggies, noodle soups, other mushroom dishes, etc), but have always wondered what the difference was compared to the seasoning/rub they also sell in the red/brown packets. Straight out of the bag, it is noticeably sweeter (obviously, given one of the highest listed ingredients is brown sugar), but still carries the signature umami/savory characteristic of the shittake mushrooms. As far as the taste goes, I have tried this on chicken and pork chops so far and it works well mixed with other meat seasonings that I would normally use... just like the original product. Is it significantly different? The taste difference is somewhat noticeable, but not as game-changing as using the OG product for the first time, and not as versatile. Still, quite tasty!

I love this product. Use it. You won't regret it.

Not at all what I had anticipated. Not the umami flavoring that I am used to. It has a course texture and a sweet flavor. Yuck. In the garbage it goes.
