These pickups are absolutely superb quality for the money. I put them in an SX telecaster which is a project I am working on and its made the guitar really shine. The have a real character to the tone of them and the increase in mids really gives the guitar that pronounced Tele spank. The pickups took 15 mins to fit even with a mod that reversed the control plate. The wires are wax cloth and of a very high quality just as the pickups are. Buy this set! You wont regret it

I recently bought a second hand Squier Affinity Telecaster, which was totally stock. Having played it for a couple of weeks, I decided to replace the bridge pickup because it was tonally lacking. It sounded thin and a bit rough and edgy. I have Tonerider AC4’s in both my Les Paul copy and in the bridge of my Strat (HSS), so I was expecting good things. My TRT1 arrived with a broken wire. I knew I could easily repair this, after a brief exchange of messages with customer services, a decent partial refund was agreed upon. I repaired and installed the TRT1 and restrung the Telecaster. Wow, what a difference. The bridge pickup now has wonderful depth of tone and some proper spank now when played clean. Dirty things up and there’s some proper growl (very Tonerider). All in all, couldn’t be happier. Tonerider are my go to brand for and guitar pickup mod or project guitar. You just can’t beat em.

I bought these to replace the Duncan Designed pickups that came with my Vintage Modified Squier thinline tele. The difference was nothing short of astounding! The original wiring had 500K pots, so I also changed to a more standard 250K/0.0047uF arrangement, and installed a 4-way pickup switch whilst I was at it. (The extra position puts the two pickups in series to make in effect one giant humbucker, which gives a small output boost and a very useable tone.) The output of the new pickups is higher, but without losing any clarity. They also give plenty of telecaster twang, but without this becoming shrill or ‘ice-picky’. Overall, this is a quality pickup set that has really transformed my tele: They really have no business being this cheap. I’m off now to buy a set of Tonerider humbuckers to upgrade my Epiphone Les Paul! .

Bought this to retrofit to a Telecaster I made a while ago. Good clear instruction, looks good and "vintagey" Great pickup for the money. Its no Lindy Fralin or Seymour Duncan, but it sounds great, looks good and for around £30 its a good bet.

This ToneriderTRT 1 was chosen after much surfing and guesswork,as a replacement for the Tex Mex stock pickup in my blonde roadworn Tele.The decision was complicated by the fact that I play with both pickups combined ,so whatever I chose would be paired with the original Tex Mex bridge,giving me a fairly unique blend. I am delighted to report that this is indeed the case! The bridge position remains the same,the mid position smooth yet funky,and the neck position warm but bitey,with none of the boomy sound the other pick up seemed to impart. The whole thing shouts quality,from the sepia packaging ,robust foam support,little latex screw supports and the rounded edges of the perspex case......who would bother with this care and attention for a bad pickup? It isn't for shouty guitaring,in my view,as it has a musicality that would be wasted in high gain situations,.....or maybe not. I has that nebulous essence of Soul.....if that can be conjured from metal and wire! ? Ride the tone. Phil

I bought myself a Korean made Telecaster copy, which is very well made with the exception of the electrics. It was always my intention to replace the pups and after some serious research decided to opt for a set of these Tonerider TRT1 Vintage Plus pickups - I'm so glad I did too because they are simply brilliant! I set the guitar up with a nice low action and pups sit approximately 2.5mm below the string height. This is slightly higher than recommended, but works for me. Clean the tones produced are reminiscent of the 1950s guitar sounds. Richly toppy with the neck pup selected - great for country players. Dirty they deliver exactly the depth of quality I was looking for the blues I love to play. It may be worth mentioning my tele is a lot more 'quacky' since fitting the Toneriders. Would I swap these Toneriders for anything else? Nope, but I might consider buying another reasonable tele copy to try out some alternative pups!

These pick-ups are astonishing. They give you that classic Telecaster sound, lots of snap and bite, and dirty, they really crunch. Absolutely no hesitation whatsoever recommending these, they are incredible - and at under £60, frankly they're a steal. Buy them, you would have to spend a hell of a lot of money to get better pick-ups than these. Update 9/9/2019. I now have these on four of my Telecasters and am about to add a set to a new guitar. They continue to delight me, giving a fantastic range of tones to my guitars. I have tried other brands, but I keep going back to these.

Auch wenn man etliche Soundänderungen bereits mit einfachen Mitteln umsetzen kann (Höhenjustage der Pickups - speziell bei einer Tele sehr wirkungsvoll, Änderung der Kapazität des Tonkondensators, Treble Bleed-Schaltung o.ä., Benutzung von Tonpoti und Klangregelung des Amps, etc.), irgendwann verfällt man den blumigen Versprechungen der Hersteller, durch einen Pickup-Wechsel DEN Sound zu erhalten. Weil es aber angesichts zahlreicher Einflußparameter und unterschiedlichem Hörempfinden schwierig ist, einen Sound seriös vorher zu sagen, kann schnell eine kostspielige Odyssee mit ungewissem Ausgang beginnen. Ärgerlich, wenn hunderte Euro teure "Boutique"-Pickups angesagter Hersteller allenfalls eine leichte Klangnuance erzielen - oder aber die eigene Klangvorstellung völlig verfehlen. Am Hals meiner Mexiko Tele hatte ein DiMarzio Twang King schon vor langer Zeit den in meinen Ohren dumpf und mumpfig klingenden Original-Pickup abgelöst und die Gitarre mit einem stratartigen Klang für mich sehr aufgewertet. Der Bridge Pickup war zwar akzeptabel aber irgendwie charakterlos - und sollte nun auch ersetzt werden. Nachdem ich häufiger über sehr positive Kritiken zu den Toneriders gestolpert war (in den anerkannt guten Fender Squier CV Modellen kommen diese wohl auch zum Einsatz) und mir die Beschreibung des TRT1 Vintage-Modells am ehesten zusagte, wurde also ein Bridge-Pickup zum Low Budget Preis geordert. Es kam eine feine Kunststoff-Schachtel, welche einen blitzsauber verarbeiteten Pickup mit 2 stoffummantelten Anschlußlitzen und klassischer Kupfer Baseplate enthielt, außerdem 3 Befestigungsschrauben mit kurzen Gummi-Federschläuchen, eine 5-Jahres-Garantiekarte sowie eine Montagebeschreibung inklusive Schaltplan - dies ist selbst bei renommierten Herstellern nicht selbstverständlich! Während man zur Montage des Neck-Pickups nur ein wenig die Saiten lockern muß, darf zur Montage des Bridge PUs neben den Saiten die komplette Brücke inkl. der Böckchen runter. Deren Längeneinstellungen sollte man zur späteren Erleichterung der Intonation messen und notieren, außerdem sollte man die Böckchen wegen der Höhenjustage in richtiger Reihenfolge ablegen. Dieses aber nur nebenbei. Das Anlöten der 2 Anschlußlitzen sollte schon wegen der bebilderten Anleitung kein größeres Problem darstellen. Nun zum Klang: Ich mag cleane, höhenreiche Sounds - aber keinen Eierschneidersound. Beim ersten Anspielen haben mir aber fast die Ohren geschmerzt. Je weiter der Pickup eingeschraubt wurde, desto zahmer wurden erwartungsgemäß die Höhen. Bei voll aufgerissenem Volume-Poti ist es für mich immer noch etwas zu schrill, bei geringem Abregeln wird es aber sofort sehr schön glockig - außerdem ist ja gerade bei einer Telecaster das Ton-Poti zur Benutzung vorgesehen (bei einer Strat könnte ich auch darauf verzichten). Der Gesamtklang wirkt nun viel offener und lebendiger als mit dem Original-Pickup (Mexiko Tele - Ahorn Hals/Griffbrett). Davon profitiert auch die Neck-Bridge-Kombination, welche ich vorher nie wirklich mochte. Es gibt auch kein Brummen oder Pfeifen, d.h. das Potting/Wachsen des Pickups ist nicht zu bemängeln - auch nicht unbedingt selbstverständlich. Für mich hat sich das Ausprobieren dieses Pickups auf jeden Fall gelohnt. Die Klang- und Verarbeitungsqualität kann mit "den Großen" problemlos mithalten - und das zum Discount-Preis. Nachtrag 29.07.2017: Inzwischen hat sich die Qualität der Tonerider wohl herumgesprochen - leider verbunden mit einem fast verdoppelten Preis.

Habe mir die Teile in meine Thomann-Tele mit Esche-Body rein gebaut und das für den 4-way-Switch modifizierte Fender Vintage Tele Set, daß ich vorher schon drin hatte, wieder ausgebaut. OK, der fette Sound in der 4. Position fehlt mir schon gelegentlich, aber diese Modifikation kann ich ja auch an diesem Set machen.... ungeachtet der damit nichtigen Gewährleistung. Soundlich gefallen mir die Tonerider in dieser Klampfe etwas besser, sie klingen schön offen mit ordentlich Druck und meines Erachtens einen Tick transparenter im Sound. Soundbeispiele gibt's ja auf YouTube genug. Zum Glück habe ich mir nicht das Hot Vintage Set gekauft, denn das gebt mir dann doch zu sehr in Richtung P90. Und gerade in einer Esche-Tele kommt dieses Pickup-Set schön knurrig und perkussiv. Wie bislang hatte immer einen super Sound mit Tonerider-Pickups.... und ich habe da so einige Sets. Leider werden die Teile von Monat zu Monat teurer. Tonerider ist halt inzwischen bei den Etablierten angekommen und lässt uns Kunden das am Preis spüren.

Absolutely great little pick up. The cover is nickel instead of the usual brass…let’s this thing sing and nowhere near as “muddy” sounding as most budget pick ups.
