Good for a first Roku or any standalone streaming device purchase!
This is the first time I purchased a Roku streaming device. I do not have any kind of standalone streaming devices since I’ve always used video game consoles for streaming. I purchased for my mom so she could stream movies in her living room and it’s an amazingly easy set up. The ethernet input is a plus and the Roku does have Wi-Fi capability so you can connect it wirelessly to your home/office router. I chose the ethernet connectivity for optimal speeds. The microphone feature in the remote is convenient and helps looking up movies a lot easier. The 3.5mm headphone input built in the remote is a pretty cool feature too. The 3.5mm earbuds are included along with power source and an HDMI cable. Overall, the image looks great, and I feel that the money is worth the value of the product based on its features. The 4K resolution makes any high-def movie look smooth. I’m someone who’s happy still watching standard definition movies myself because I like the graininess of films but that’s besides the point. I felt it was a good buy. All apps are available, including the major streaming platforms and others may need to be downloaded which is pretty simple to do. To relaxing times ! Cheers! -Josh

This Roku Ultra LT is a TV box Proper!
Having used a Fire TV cube since 2018, which has severe buffering issues, I decided to give a try to this Roku LT 2023 version. I must say the Roku seems to have a powerful processor compared to the Fire TV cube and better memory management than the Fire TV cube. The Roku also has a faster and better Wifi modem and faster memory modules compared to the Fire TV Cube. The streaming processor in the Roku is light-years ahead of the streaming processor found in the Fire TV cube. It is night and day. The Roku system is faster at surfing through channels, launching channels, changing from one channel to another, launching TV streaming apps, the user interface in general is very fluid, smooth, fast, and I did not notice any stutters or the lag that is prevalent with the Amazon Fire TV Cube. Whatever processor the Roku LT streaming box is using is AMAZING!!. When changing channels or launching TV streaming apps on the Roku, everything works smoothly, fast and efficiently well. The Roku software is well designed, straight to the point and it is a much better experience than what you find on the Fire TV Cube by miles! One major issue with the Fire TV cube is the inability of the streaming processor in the Fire TV cube to sync audio and video. The Fire TV cube seldom ever manages to sync audio and video so that the experience you have is where you see characters on TV speaking and their mouths moving but you hear the sound about 2 or 3 seconds later. Another issue with the Fire TV cube is the slow user interface. The software is slow, full of stutters and at times, a non-responsive and or a slow responding remote control. No amount of software updates pushed by Amazon has fixed these issues which plague what would otherwise be a great TV streaming box. You do not see these issues with the Roku Ultra LT streaming box. This Roku Ultra LT streaming box is a TV box proper! Fast, responsive, efficient, amazing WiFi connectivity, great sound, amazing picture quality, ease of navigating the user interface, tons upon tons of channels and TV streaming apps, responsive remote control which also has a 3.5mm jack for in-ear monitors... i mean... the Roku... wow!... this thing is hooked! This Roku streaming box is what I would recommend to everyone currently using a Fire TV Cube. It is rather unfortunate that Amazon continues to employ weak streaming processors, subpar WiFi modems, limited and slow memory chips which result in poor performance across a wide variety of Amazon Fire TV boxes and their Echo Show devices. It is my hope one day that Amazon utilize better chipsets in their Echo Show and Fire TV devices such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset and with it, Qualcomm's tried and true WiFi modems, as well as utilize faster and larger memory modules in their Fire TV and Echo Show systems because these faster chipsets would greatly enhance the user experience on the Amazon Fire TV Cube and Amazon's Echo Show devices. It is the slow Mediatek processors Amazon utilizes in their Fire TV box and Echo smart speaker and Echo show systems which ruin user experience. Please Amazon, consider utilizing Qualcomm Snapdragon Processors and Qualcomm Wifi chipsets, as well as larger and faster memory modules so to enhance the user experience on your smart speaker and Fire TV cube devices. Borrow a page from Roku. Have the next iteration of your smart speaker systems and especially the remote control of the next Fire TV Cube... implement a feature where users can connect in-ear monitors for private listening via a 3.5mm jack or Bluetooth connectivity. You could also utilize AMD's Zen 2 APU as a streaming processor across your smart speaker devices and also in the Fire TV Cube. You have the idea and a great line of streaming devices however the choice of utilizing slow and dated components is the reason why the user experience on Amazon Fire TV Cube and the Echo Show smart speaker devices is slow, weary, hopeless and frustrating.

Fantastic for Seniors and Saves you Money
We've been owners/subscribers of TiVo (and before that ReplayTV) hardware for decades now, but when our TiVo Vox stopped recognizing its cablecard and its satellite Vox Mini and OG Minis became useless, we decided to join the growing movement of cord cutters. All of our TVs are "smart" in that they have apps available to support streaming services directly, so we signed up for YouTube TV in addition to the other streaming services we were already subscribed to. Unfortunately, my father-in-law (in his mid-90s) just couldn't make the transition to using the TV's many-tiny-buttons remote and I was constantly having to help him navigate to what he wanted to watch. Something had to change ... I investigated the Chromecast and Firestick, but Google and Amazon have had differences in the past, so I took a hard look at the Roku and decided to give it a try. I'm happy to say that my father-in-law is absolutely delighted with it. He finds it easier to navigate than the TiVo he'd been using for years, and the remote's simplicity, button size and button locations are much more intuitive for him than the TV's remote (and in some respects better than the TiVo's). And for me, it simplifies things. No more troubleshooting TiVo Vox cablecard issues or connectivity problems between the Vox and his Vox Mini. And no more Xfinity/Comcast cable service; YouTube TV is $50 less per month. We had switched ISPs last year, so cable TV was the only thing we relied on Comcast for. The TiVo's subscription was $150/yr for the channel guide, so a net savings of almost $700/yr!

A very good streaming device
It is just what was advertised. Extremely easy to setup and add channels. Streaming video loads at least three times as fast as my last streaming device. I really like the volume and power controls on the remote. It synced to my tv automatically. The sound and picture are flawless with this Roku. I like that the remote uses btteries. I use rechargable lithium batteries so it should last a long time.

It work ok but it’s picky on which HDMI works on it, and the control needs to be updated.

I've used Roku for years for all my streaming services and to manage my plex/personal media. The ultra is the best one I've used. Would definitely recommend

I would class the nVidia Shield as the premium media box but Roku's products are very well made, easy to use and they just work as expected. Keep in mind they are not really mod-able in that you are limited to the apps you can load but for those of us using the big services like Netflix, Prime, Disney, etc you can't beat a Roku. I also love the fact that you can plug headphones in the remote and watch TV when your spouse is sleeping or you want to keep things quiet. Not sure why there is a rating for gaming as this is not a gaming device. Highly recommended.
