They're not pure velvet but polyester with a velvet type nap, but actually look ok and are nice and soft....EXCEPT they were stuffed into a small box and are very badly creased. Hence I've dropped a star *. As per the instructions that say 'do not iron' there's no way to get the creases out, and believe it or not I don't own an iron anyway. I will call in the BFF who has a hand held steamer. I ordered 60x60 cms but they're very slightly under that, but once the cushion inserts were in they really plumped up.
