9/10
Snow: When there is a lot of snow (Like what we have just had in the UK) this item does not work quite as good. Due to the collapse of the snow under your feet this is not unexpected. Ice: This item works brilliantly on ice, which is expected after the large amount of snow we have just had. Although care must still be taken; you can still walk faster and feel safer even without holding on to a wall! Compacted snow: Again this item works good on compacted snow, although in some areas you may encounter 'sludge' and then it wont work as brilliantly. Though 'sludge' does not really make you slip, you will still end up with damp socks and cold feet. Normal ground: Wile walking (especially in long distances) you will probably have to cross the road or walk over dry ground where a person may have dug out his drive or in front of a shop. Do try and avoid these as it is difficult walking, though probably wont make you slip. Getting on the item: I have read a few reviews on here about the difficulty of getting the item on. The first time putting on the item can be a time consuming task, though after it does become easier. Just put the toe end over the front of the shoe at first and then slide it over the back, quite simple! Make sure you have ordered the correct size, the smaller sizes may be harder to put on which is self explanatory! Value for money: You can't really complain about the price. This time of year is dangerous for all. The roads become slippy, the pavements become a death trap and I'm sure you can't put a price on your safety. Last words: This item will help prevents slips, trips and broken bits. I give it an overall rating of 9/10. Though quite brilliant on ice, its does not help on normal ground as there is plenty, even after the snow fall we have had! This is a must buy this winter!

did the job
I ordered these when the icy pavements were making walking anywhere treacherous. The product was out of stock due to unexpectedly high demand so I had to wait a week by which time the worst of the weather had passed so I haven't really given these a thorough testing. They certainly did make walking on ice easy. I was confident and didn't slip once. Excellent. They were reasonably easy to fit and remove but if you had stiff fingers it might be tricky. The only thing I hadn't expected was that as soon as you are off the ice on dry pavements it is like walking in football studs and I didn't find it comfortable at all, (also noisy - the metal studs ring on the concrete). As soon as I entered a building I had to remove them as the spikes would ruin any floor. However they easily slip into a handbag and take up very little space, ready for when you go back out again. Overall a good product and I would certainly recommend. ( Will be interested to see how long the rubber lasts though)

Get a grip really works - buy it!
I heard about snow grips last year when it snowed heavily but by then there was no point buying them as the season was over. This year, on the very first sign of snow, I decided to order them - I searched for them on QVC where I saw them before but they were completely sold out. I also searched at The Great Outdoors (I live in Ireland) as it was the only store to stock them and they were also sold out. Neither could say when a delivery of new stock was expected. I googled and found Get a Grip on Amazon. I bought 4 pairs and also qualified for free delivery, which was excellent. I paid STG14.00 for each pair (end of November 2010) although I believe the price has gone up since. Delivery was exactly as predicted, according to the email I very helpfully received from Amazon. Good job Amazon. The product itself is brilliant. I found it fit over all my shoes perfectly. The rubber was a bit stiff to start with, but after a few days wear, was easier to stretch over my shoes. It felt secure and never once fell off during days of walking through several inches of snow. It made me feel very secure. I gave the other 3 to others (2 men and 1 woman) and they all loved it. My brother takes a size 10 shoes and the large size fit his shoes perfectly. Another friend who is a size 9 also found the large perfect fit. My brother's girlfriend said hers slipped off once or twice (she puts this down to wearing round-toe shoes - mine were pointier boots) but she learned to pull them on more securely after copying my "technique" of pulling the front lip all the way over the front of your shoe/boot (you need to put them on straight for this to happen, if they are askew this will not work). If we questioned just how must grip we were getting, this soon became apparant when we decided to go out without them one day (short trip to the shops) and we could really feel the difference - very slippery. As some of the reviewers have commented, when walking on an area where there is no snow, there is a clonking noise from the metal hitting the pavement but I didn't find it hard to balance. I did try my best to walk on areas where the snow is thicker where possible. I took them off immediately when indoors and put them on only when going outside, right in the doorway. Initially you might need to sit down to put them on, but after a day or two of wear, you get used to putting them on and the rubber gets a bit looser so its easier to pull them on. Overall a great purchase, highly recommended, and they are better (in my opinion) than the coil versions of similar snow grip products as the spikes give you more grip. I've seen other brands and they are nowhere nearly as well designed or well made as these. None of the spikes have needed replacing so far and they look well held in place. You get 2 spare ones in the pack just in case. The only thing I would change is to have them come with a carry pouch. I've been using platic bags but a purpusely designed pouch would be neater. As a footnote I would add that when QVC and Great Outdoors restocked, the price is considerably higher than what I paid - so it was great value too.

No more arguments
I bought these for my wife in December 2010 during the bad weather in Edinburgh, when the streets were all coated with uneven ice. Like most women, she tends to wear shoes with almost no built-in grip (even her assorted boots), and becomes very nervous indeed when there's ice underfoot. The nervousness inevitably leads to headaches and arguments, so the aim was to get something that would restore her confidence when walking conditions are poor. These are basically elasticated covers for the soles of your ordinary shoes or boots, with ice spikes attached. We tested them out on a half-hour walk along an icy backroad one evening, and within ten minutes I knew I'd be making sure she always had a pair of these things. She hasn't slipped once since she'd been wearing them, and (more importantly) she's learned to trust that she can walk normally even on sheet ice with these on. Truly a godsend. She's had them on over everything from flat-soled trainers (Chucks) to fairly chunky boots, and they just stretch to fit. They haven't fallen off yet, but she can put them on and take them off easily enough at the doorstep or in the car. Frankly, it'd be crazy not to keep a pair of these around if the weather turns cold. They're just the trick for taking the stress out of walking on ice. I only wish I'd bought her them five years ago. (Common sense alert: don't wear them indoors. They're actual spikes, and they will puncture your lino or scratch wood - but hopefully that's obvious!)

snow grip
I'v owned yatrax with the wired typed wrapped around - Best one, very comfy, doesn't come off easily. harder to put on with the strong plastic. QVC circle plastic with round pins - Awful grip, plastic became lose very soon because of the circle design, and you lose it in snow! This get a grip is the middle road one - decent grip, good with a small heel type of shoe, But because of the round pin it's not as comfy and I am very aware of thin bare patches as it's scrachy. Easy to use slip on and off. bought pairs for my elderly friends and neighbour. Think everyone should be made aware how good and useful they are, so they won't to feel like they are snowed in!

Excellent, only very minor gripes but overall very nice indeed!
The good points of these shoes are: 1. They are very easy to put on, haven't tried them on wellies yet but on trainers and converse shoes they fit wonderfully and never feel like they are coming off. Unlike other types they aren't a stiff plastic but are flexible and stretch well from a bit behind your heel to over your toe. 2. I actually walk faster using these on ice than I do pavement, very good traction where before there is none thanks to the small spikes. The bad point of these shoes are: 1. The fact that I walk faster on ice; these feel a wee bit wobbly on pavement as you are essentially then treading on 6 narrow spikes no more than a couple of mm in diameter. They are very easy to take off though so if you are in a cleared area it really isn't too much bother taking them off and putting them back on again as they do stretch very well over shoes. 2. The spikes are small enough for you to feel they may wear down (on pavement, not on ice) as they are so narrow. I'm unsure exactly how resistant the material actually is being worn down over such a small area, but then again, if only using them on ice this is a non-issue. To conclude, the bad points are really only bad when using them on pavements, and as they are very easy to slip off and on again (you could even keep them on a spare pair of trainers) these are not significant. 5 stars, very good indeed.

Great for boots
I have used these over the past few days with real positive results. I found them easy to attach to my boots and they have only come off the boots twice with each time being caused by me tripping over something. I have found these work best with a shoe or boot that does nolegible flexible sole such as a trainer. I have also found that they give better grip when the sole of the shoe being used is smooth, I use an old pair of walking boots that have had the tread pattern worn off to give a flat surface which ensures that the little metal spikes make contact consistently. The only problem I can see with prolonged used is that the rubber used to attach the spikes is starting to stretch and may cause the grips to slip off the shoe more often.

Ice wimp no more!
Snow is fun but in recent years I've been becoming more and more of an 'ice-wimp'. I hate it when the snow freezes over and it gets icy underfoot. Last year I'd had enough of walking like a nervous pregnant penguin and finally ordered some of these. Of course I left it too late and they didn't arrive until after the thaw, but I have got to use them this year and they've been excellent. They give just enough sense of grip and traction to make it possible to walk normally. They can be a little tricky to position correctly on the boots at first, until you work out how far they need to be pulled up at the front and back to stay secure. If they're not put on right they could slip off again. Some people with less flexible fingers might find it tricky to stretch them into place and I certainly find it much easier to put them on the boots before putting the boots on. However, I'd say it's well worth the little extra time they add to getting dressed to go out to be able to walk with confidence.

Great for walking on slick surfaces
These traction aids are wonderful. So easy to slip on any flat soled shoe or boot. I felt confident walking across an icy parking lot and experienced no sliding at all! I highly recommend these to anyone who must be out when wintery weather makes walking hazardous.

Best Traction Aid
These are the best traction aid. I live in the great white north and run everyday. We often have snow from Nov. to April...maybe May. I have run for over 20 years. These are the best.

So far so good!!
So far so good!!! I got these for my daughter because she has to take public transportation and there is always ice around. She said she feels much safer now walking on all the ice. They work great! They were delivered right on time and the price is good too!
