*A scorchingly hot modern retelling of Eurydice and Orpheus and Charon.* Eurydice Dimitriou has always been the innocent sister, but she's finally ready to step out of the long shadow cast by her powerful family…and the ex who shattered her heart. Perhaps rough hands on soft skin are exactly what she needs to forget her heartbreak once and for all? Charon Ariti has been Hades's right-hand man for years. He's given everything to the lower city, but now he's ready to take something for himself. He's only too happy to give Eurydice a special kind of education…but is her heart really free enough to be claimed? Orpheus Makos will do whatever it takes to make things right. Once the golden boy of the upper city, he's now a shadow of his former self. He'll do anything to get Eurydice back…even if it means she's not coming into his arms alone. Three hearts. Three futures. Countless ways to get it wrong. But with enemies slipping through Olympus's faltering barrier to lay siege on the lower city, a trio of broken hearts will be the least of these would-be lovers' worries… "Deliciously inventive…Red-hot."― Publishers Weekly STARRED Review for Neon Gods "I get shivers just thinking of their interactions. It is definitely dark and spicy, but it also had heart and a lot of character growth. Eurydice was such a great heroine and I loved watching her shift from being overlooked to fully in control of her choices. The romance was intense and the chemistry between the three of them had me hooked, but it never felt like spice for the sake of spice. The emotional side of their relationships felt just as strong. The pacing kept me engaged from start to finish and the worldbuilding around the lower city and the political tension added so much to the story. It felt bigger than just the romance, though that part was fantastic. This is easily one of my favorites in the series so far. It delivered on the steam, the angst, and the emotion, and it left me excited for what Katee Robert is going to do next in Olympus.

Great, but not amazing
First I’d like to say, I love Katee Robert’s work and all the other books in this series. The way all of the characters are intertwined really helps me to keep a vivid picture of the city as a whole and what’s going on. The biggest pet peeve I have about this book is the number of typos I’ve noticed while reading. I always re-read sentences when I do find a typo just to make sure it’s not me being stupid or misunderstanding the sentence, but even after doing so, they were definitely typos. I would have just expected more from a published author, and I’ve never noticed this issue in her other books. Secondly, the spice started off strong in the beginning, but then from about the halfway point and on it was merely nonexistent. I’m sure not everyone prefers super spicy books, however this is my preference and I expected more based on the other books in the series! At the midway point, the book to me became very serious and was solely surrounding politics of the city. It was definitely a stark contrast to what I’m used to in this series, but for me was almost too sharp a turn. Overall I still liked the book and am still interested in continuing the series, however these are just things I noticed and my personal opinion on them!

This is another exciting dark MMF Greek myth reimagining in the Dark Olympus series. It is the sixth installment and should be read in order. FMC Eurydice is just finding her place in the Lower City, with MMC Charon at her side as both friend and protector. When they finally admit their romantic feelings for each other, it becomes clear that she still has lingering feelings for MMC Orpheus. As tensions rise, Eurydice may not be finished with Orpheus, and the chemistry between the three of them is undeniable. All of this unfolds as outside threats to Olympus become even more dangerous. This book is fast-paced, with multiple plot lines weaving together alongside a deliciously spicy love triangle. I especially appreciated finally getting Eurydice’s POV and seeing her resolve her issues with Orpheus, which had been a major conflict in earlier books. I really enjoyed this installment, it is one of my new favorites in the series. I can’t wait to see what happens next in book 7, Dark Restraint. Spice 4.5/5 Plot: 4.5/5 Writing: 4.5/5 Narration: 4.5/5 My Enjoyment: 4.5/5

It’s just okay…
Idk. I like Eurydice and Charon a lot and I didn’t really see Orpheus being worthy of them… it’s nice he felt remorseful and made amends for the crap he pulled but I don’t think he was deserving of their continued time or relationship in the name of making a triangle—idc about their polyamorous vibe—that is all fine and great but I don’t think Eurydice and Charon needed to open themselves to him specifically… Also, nothing really happened in this book. It could have been a chapter or two in a more plot involved installment.

If you loved Wicked Beauty you'll love Midnight Ruin
Whew, ok. Things are heating up in Olympus and the violence is spilling out of the upper city and into the safer lower city. There is less politics in this book than the previous ones in this serious but much more... chaos. There is so much to like about this story and it echoes a bit of Wicked Beauty in theme. Yes, it's MMF but also features a woman who is underestimated but comes into her own power and builds herself an important purpose. When I first read the teasers I wasn't too excited learning that there was puppy play. I don't kink shame, to each their own but I didn't *think* it would be for me and I'd just breeze through those scenes. I'm glad I gave it a chance because Robert has a way of writing things that are completely outside your normal world and making them relatable. The juxtaposition of her writing degradation with kindness is well done. It's penance while seeking and healing. I didn't think Orpheus could be redeemed and I wasn't too happy with the excuse that he "didn't know" as a means to forgiveness. As the story unfolds it will make so much more sense and you'll be able to accept it. I love the glimpses we get to see of other characters we get to see. And it's a bit more of just "hey remember these other characters in the series. Ok they still exist." There are further glimpses into their lives and futures. We get to see more of: Persephone, Hades, Callisto, Apollo, Cassandra, Eris and Hermes. I know Hermes' book will be last but I swear it's like Robert is edging us with every glimpse we have of her in every story. There is so much going on in this story and Olympus is going crazy it will be tortue waiting for Ariadne and the Minotaur in August.

I should give an extra star simply because "Moot Point" wasn't said once in this book of the series.
I have loved the Dark Olympus series, but this one did not live up to my hopes with how much I've enjoyed the past 5 books. The romance plotline seemed forced, no real resolve to what happened between Eurydice and Orpheus other than old habits die hard - I don't see how any amount of love or sorrow could have rescued their relationship based on what Orpheus did to Eurydice in the first book of the series. I also was not a fan of how blindly Charon fell into the trio just so he could hold on to Eurydice; everything happened so fast that we as readers (as well as the characters) could really analyze if they all ended up together just because the two love her and she loves both of them, or for genuine reasons. [SPOILERS NOW] I started to guess that Circe was the benefactor of Minor. Although, anyone with a bit more than basic knowledge of Greek Mythology could have anticipated that, that doesn't take away from the book. At first I thought the way it was revealed to the reader that she is the benefactor was randomly thrown in, but knowing that the next book in the series focuses on The Minotaur and Ariadne, it makes sense. Although, it does suck to know, even before the next book comes out, that Ariadne ends back in contact with The Minotaur after all that she went through and did to escape Minos. However, I am VERY excited to see how the rest of the Circe plot plays out in the series. Lastly, the confrontation at the end happened so quick and ended so abruptly I was left feeling unresolved. We know the people that were fighting against Charon and his crew were sent by Circe/Minos in some way - but were they from Aeaea, or were they citizens of Olympus that they got to work for them? was it anyone we knew? I wish we knew if any of the enemies they brought back lived, and if they did that some questioning began before the book was over. I know the purpose was to leave us wanting and ready for book 7 of the series, but I think that still would have happened if we got at least a glimpse into the aftermath.

My brain isn't working at the moment, so please enjoy a mildly chaotic review. • Persephone is kind of a witch. • Admittedly, it's been a while since I read the other books in the series, so Orpheus' screw-ups aren't fresh in my mind, but I felt so bad for him. 🥺 • Eurydice coming into her own—about time! • Are all of Demeter's daughters giant jerks? • I hate that they handed Ariadne over to Hera. I don't trust that woman as far as I can throw her. • Charon 💞 • GOOD LAWD X 10 🔥🔥🔥

I like this series
It's starting to become a bit repetitive in terms of how the romance arcs unfold, I wish the books were a bit longer so there was more about the underlying lore

Excellent characters and writing!
I’ve been an avid reader of this series for a while, and I absolutely loved this installment. It might just be my favourite! Something feels a bit different in this book, it’s incredibly intelligent and well written as always… but the characters were just absolutely spot on. The story felt so believable and Orpheus’s character has a lovely arc and you really do see the real him. Eurydice and Orpheus’s story in particular rings so true, that some people you just can’t let go of. I’ve always loved Charon and he is just such a likeable character, the ending did them all justice. It was nice to spend some time with the other characters instead of just in passing, namely Hades, Persephone, Minthe, Callisto. Loved this one! Enjoy!

This both started and ended very abruptly. I thought Orpheus had a tonne more grovelling to do. Would have liked a bit more of their dynamic would/could have worked outside the bedrom

This is a delightful book. Having the incredible writing, a romance that is simultaneously sweet, spicy and real and the perfect level of interactions with former characters made this an absolute delight and I am on the edge of my seat for the next book.
