The tuning slides were all well greased and moved easily, however the valves needed a lot of TLC. Trumpet valve oil was not included in the kit so plan on getting a quality oil like “Blue Juice.” If you are not familiar with how to clean and oil trumpet valves there are videos online that will help or find any experienced trumpet player who can show you. After a week of playing and re-oiling, the valves are finally how I like them. Overall, I found the tone of the trumpet pretty good but a little brighter than my other horn. Intonation is acceptable. The lacquer finish is generally good with a few hazy areas under the tuning slides. The case is small, lightweight and will probably fit in most student lockers. There isn’t room in the case for anything extra and the side pocket is pretty much useless. DO NOT BUY THIS INSTRUMENT. It is poorly made and may work for a short time, but once something goes wrong no repair shops will be able to fix it. I have a 6th grade student currently trying to play on one of these pieces of junk and every time he tries to blow in to it, the tuning slide falls out, frustrating the boy and making it impossible to play. Poor quality, poor craftsmanship-- stick with a reputable brand like Yamaha or Conn/Selmer when purchasing instruments. They may cost a little more, but I still have the same Yamaha trumpet I started on as a 5th grader in 1994 and it still works like its brand new. **Q: Is the caze good quality?** A: Yes, it is a good case. It is not hard, but still protects.
