The Jabra Speak 2 55 arrived in very simple packaging, environmentally friendly, all recyclable, no e-waste here. Case is soft and reasonably protective, it does seem to work at keeping it from taking the worst knocks when it is in my bag. Setup on day 1 was simple enough thanks to the USB Type-C cable, it was detected immediately by Teams. Calls have been clear with no noticeable distortion, it has been able to filter out some of the background noise that is normal with working from home to the point where a few colleagues have noticed the clarity is better in comparison to my previous speaker. The speaker is clear when listening to videos, its not the most broad range speaker but is does a nice job of adding some depth to the audio output, it makes me wonder how this compares to the Speak 2 75. I've been using it out and about at offices that aren't equipped with conferencing tools and it has made a marked improvement to me not having to get out a headset and having a cable trail after me. Speaking of cables the option to have Bluetooth as a fallback has been nothing short of great, I am able to connect my mobile phone to the speaker and use the phone for Teams calls, no one notices that I am using my mobile for the calls. I installed the app to see what options are available and they seem fairly limited, apart from keeping the firmware up to date and choosing what "softphone" to be sync'd, was hoping to be able to get it have the soft keys work with Teams but this doesn't seem to work. All in all the Speak 2 55 seems to be a good all rounder thanks to the Bluetooth support.

I purchased this for an important 10 person (face to face) conference in a boardroom setting, with additional attendees joining remotely by Teams. From earlier experience attending similar conferences, I knew that relying on a laptop and large screen TV display alone would not cut it; such setup had resulted in severe sound issues; in particular, echo for those joining remotely and inability for physical attendees to hear remote parties. I inherited responsibility for organising the conference and a whole lot depended on it. Conscious of risk of sound issues, I researched aux conference units. I settled on the Jabra Speak2 55. As I wasn’t sure it would handle the setting, I ordered a couple of days ahead and road tested. The sound quality for this product was well above adequate, and, far exceeded and out performed my expectations. For the conference , I used a 90” TV as extended display for my laptop; the TV was set to mute. I used the Jabra Speak2 55 as both speaker and mic for my laptop, set in the centre of the boardroom table, with 10 people sat around the table. My laptop sat on table to utilise webcam and run Teams hosting. The outcome was fantastic. Granted it was an organised and well behaved conference with little or no interrupting. All physical attendees could hear remote attendees without any issue, it’s crystal clear output was as if remote parties were present. Crucially, remote attendees could hear all physical attendees without any difficulty and there was absolutely NO echo or bounce-back for remote attendees. I cannot rate this item highly enough, especially given the low price. I’ve since used it for several teleconferences with 4 physical attendees with great success. Totally fantastic kit. I wouldn’t host another teleconference or videoconference of similar size (i.e.: 2 to 12 physical attendees) without it. Yes, I could have opted for a unit specifically designed for larger number of physical attendees, but this was more than ample. Love it.

The Jabra Speak2 55 is a fantastic piece of equipment. The plug and play functionality has allowed me to connect the device into different equipment and use seamlessly. The device is light weight aid easy transport, meaning it is something I am able to carry around with me all the time alongside my laptop. The sound and microphone quality is great, I’ve been using it in a range on environments from one-on-one calls both in the office and at home to collaborative events via MS Teams with multiple people in the room. The device layout itself makes it ready easy to accept and reject call and mute. Another feature I really like is the MS Teams button which bring up the lobby when I’m due to start a Teams meeting. I’d highly recommend the device to anyone needing a good microphone and speaker facility.

The Jabra Speak 2 55 is a very compact and stylish design. It worked straight out of the box with very little set up. I just used the Bluetooth connectivity for using with my smartphone, rather than the need for any app. The USB port made connection to my laptop very easy. The speaker comes with a soft case which makes it very easy to carry around. The battery life states 12 hours use. The battery has not required charging- and charges when plugged into laptop. My primary reason for purchasing this was for work meetings via teams but I have already discovered many personal uses that I didn’t expect. I have found it very useful for simple loud to loud calls on my phone, rather than using speakerphone and also for playing music. The speaker clarity is great and with it being so portable, I have been using it as an outdoor speaker. The audio quality for conference calls is great. The microphone has 360 coverage but there have been times when the receiver of the call has said they can’t hear me clearly. The functions were very user friendly and easy to control features such as volume, mute and other settings. In summary, I would say it is a speakerphone that excels in delivering outstanding audio quality but the microphone quality could be slightly better. It’s portability, battery life and features still make this a great choice.

Beware - problems when using with iPhones. This should be a great product, however, it has a major flaw in that while it works as expected when connected to a PC or laptop for Zoom calls, when using as speakerphone connected to either of my iPhones callers report very bad sound quality - which is resolved as soon as I disconnect and just use the iPhone. This replaced a cheaper Jabra speakerphone that worked perfectly (replaced thanks to spilling coffee in it!) and I'm very disappointed with this purchase.

Quality item, transforms sound and microphone capabilities when joining online meetings through a laptop. I use this when I am working offshore and it is a massive improvement over standard laptop systems - I can hear all the meeting conversations easily, and I know I am going to sound good to the other attendees, which gives me confidence to perform better at the meeting! That's a great return on less than a hundred quid.

Starten wir diese Review mit einer Situation, die mir kürzlich passierte und die vielleicht der ein oder andere von euch kennen dürfte: Es fand eine Telefonkonferenz mit ein paar meiner Kollegen statt und außerdem mit Personen außerhalb meiner Organisation. Wir haben uns bei mir im Büro zusammengesetzt und die weiteren wurden per Telefon zugeschaltet. Die Freisprecheinrichtung meines regulären Telefons war dabei nicht wirklich förderlich für die Telefonkonferenz. Regelmäßig wurden wir nicht gehört, musste uns wiederholen und auch die Tonqualität der anderen war eher mittelmäßig. Anderes Beispiel gefällig? Die regelmäßig hybrid stattfindenden Abteilungsgespräche: Während einige im Besprechungsraum in Präsenz sitzen, werden alle übrigen aus dem Homeoffice hinzu geschaltet. Weder Ton noch Gesprächsqualität konnte dabei bislang überzeugen und führt nur zu unbefriedigenden Situationen für alle Beteiligten. Eine Lösung für die Anforderungen modernen Arbeitens musste also her. Und da kommen sogenannte Speakerphones als Alternative immer in Betracht. Die Jabra Speak2 55 fallen genau in diese Kategorie und bilden zusammen mit den weiteren Modellen – den Jabra Speak2 45 und Jabra Speak2 75 – eine Familie, die verschiedene Belange bedient. Die Hauptunterschiede liegen dabei bei Tonqualität und Akkulaufzeit. Entschieden habe ich mich letztlich für die mittlere Variante, die laut Datenblatt eine gute Akkuleistung mit ausreichend guter Tonqualität bei einem guten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis bietet. Typisch für Jabra kommen die Jabra Speak2 55 in einer simplen und auffälligen Verpackung daher. Diese setzt dabei auch auf Nachhaltigkeit – ein guter Aspekt in diesen Zeiten. Öffnet man den Karton, so findet man hierin den auf das Notwendigste reduzierten Speaker: Eine Filztasche, die sich mit einem Gummi gut und sicher schließen lässt, hierin den Speaker selbst und außerdem als Beilage noch ein wenig Papier, welches insbesondere die Garantiebestimmungen beinhaltet und paar erste Schritte erläutert. Den Speaker aus der Filztasche geholt, fällt direkt das wertige Design auf. Jabra setzt hier auf eine Designsprache, die schnörkellos zu überzeugen weiß. Die Verarbeitungsqualität lässt keine Wünsche offen – die Spaltmaße wissen überall zu gefallen und weichen nicht voneinander ab. Es knarzt nichts, ein Wackeln oder ähnliches ist ebenfalls nicht feststellbar. Das Gewicht ist angenehm – der Speaker bringt leicht mehr auf die Waage, was aber die optische Wertigkeit nur unterstützt. Auch zu erwähnen natürlich: Der Akku und die Technik haben eben ihr Gewicht. Auf der Oberseite sind die verschiedenen Auswahloptionen aufgedruckt, welche mit einer LED hinterlegt sind und entsprechend aufleuchten können. Ein LED-Ring umgibt den Speaker im Übrigen komplett auf der Oberseite. Dieser Ring dient der Anzeige von beispielsweise Lautstärke oder der Farbänderung, wenn man zwischen Telefonie oder Teams wechselt. Der Treiber selbst ist durch ein feines Gewebe geschützt, welches die wertige Optik des Speakers nur nochmals unterstreicht. Der Jabra Speak2 55 lässt sich auf zwei Arten mit dem Gerät verbinden: Das auf der Unterseite des Speakers angebrachte USB-A-Kabel kann an jeden Computer angeschlossen werden. Zusätzlich – damit keine Konnektivitätsprobleme entstehen – ist an dem Kabel noch ein Adapter von USB-A auf USB-C angebracht. Sobald der Speaker mit einem Computer verbunden wird, besteht umgehend eine Verbindung und schon kann es auch los gehen. Für jene, die auf ein Kabel verzichten wollen, hier die gute Nachricht: das mittlere Mitglieder der Speakerphone Familie Jabras besitzt ebenfalls Bluetooth, sodass auch eine mobilere Nutzung erfolgen kann. Auch hier funktioniert die Koppelung problemlos und zügig. Verbindungsprobleme im Lauf der Nutzung konnten keine festgestellt werden. Bluetooth hat den Vorteil, dass auch eine Verbindung zum Smartphone hergestellt werden kann. Egal welches Endgerät verwendet wird – es wird sowohl Lautsprecher als auch Mikrofon jeweils erkannt. Verwendet man Bluetooth, so ist man selbstverständlich auf den verbauten Akku angewiesen. Voll geladen hält dieser problemlos über einen kompletten Arbeitstag. Jabra gibt die Laufzeit mit etwa 12 Stunden an – in der Praxis konnte dieser Wert zwar nicht ganz erreicht werden, etwa 10 Stunden waren jedoch kein Problem. Jabra verbaut in seinem Konferenzlautsprecher Jabra Speak2 55 nicht nur ein Mikrofon, sondern gleich vier Stück. Hinzu kommt außerdem eine Nebengeräuschunterdrückung. Die Kombination aus der Anzahl der Mikrofone sowie der Nebengeräuschunterdrückung funktioniert erstaunlich gut. Egal ob ein Meeting in ruhiger Umgebung abgehalten wird oder ob man mit Hintergrundgeräuschen zu kämpfen hat – in keinem Szenario wird die Tonqualität für das Gegenüber nachteilig beeinflusst. Hier macht der Konferenzlautsprecher einen sehr guten Job. Die Tonausgabe ist sehr kraftvoll und weiß zu überzeugen. Einen Pluspunkt bietet außerdem die Nivellierung von Tonniveaus. Das heißt, dass leisere Sprecher und lautere Sprecher gut aufeinander abgestimmt werden. So kann jeder in seiner natürlichen Art sprechen, ohne dass dauerhaftes Nachfragen notwendig wird. Egal ob es sich um kleine Meetings oder solche in größeren Gruppen handelt: Der Ton wird stets in sehr guter Qualität wiedergegeben und man kann alle Gesprächsteilnehmer sehr gut verstehen. Ein Vorteil liegt auch darin, dass Nebengespräche stattfinden können, ohne dass diese das Meeting negativ beeinflussen. So kann ein kleiner Austausch oder eine kleine Abstimmung zwischen Kollegen stattfinden, ohne dass direkt alle in diese leise ausgesprochenen Gedankengänge involviert werden. Kann der Speaker auch Musik? Ja, das kann er. In kleinen Räumen ist das problemlos möglich. Gerade im Homeoffice kann dies für viele eine gute Abwechslung im Arbeitsalltag darstellen. Die Musikwiedergabe ist dabei für die Größe des Speakers sehr gut. Allerdings sollte man beachten, dass der Bass nicht zu präsent ist. Dies ist allerdings kein Problem, da die Hauptaufgabe des Speakers gerade nicht die Musikwiedergabe ist. Unerwähnt soll jedoch die Möglichkeit nicht bleiben. Alles in allem ist der Jabra Speak2 55 ein sehr gelungener Konferenzlautsprecher. Egal ob für Telefonie oder für Meetings, für Telefonkonferenzen oder Videokonferenzen – der Speaker weiß zu überzeugen. Die Akkulaufzeit eignet sich hervorragend für einen Arbeitstag und als Plus kommt hinzu, dass auch die Musikausgabe über das Gerät sehr gut funktioniert. Wer einen Konferenzlautsprecher als täglichen Begleiter sucht, wird mit dem Jabra Speak2 55 auf jeden Fall fündig.
