Pretty decent Scale
Before buying I took a look at the reviews, of course. I was amazed to see so many units sold. And since this is a good response of the market I trusted and went ahead to get one of these. Despite it has 11 bad rated reviews I thought "this thing can't be that bad". As a consummate Amazon.com shopper for so many years now I know that 'sometimes' it is possible to have bad experiences with a product purchased online, where the only tools that help taking the buying decision are some photos and reviews. I know; sometimes it is hard not being physically there at the store to see, touch and feel the product, but with some experience, logic and attention you're able to become an expert online shopper! On the other hand, bad rates ARE NOT necessarily related to the product quality itself but with transportation, sales support, DOA units, lack of the How-It-Works thing, averseness about user guide reading, irresponsible reviewers and etc factors. You gotta be smart and apply your own logical conclusions to see beyond that ugly 1 star review because the product may be good after all. And this is precisely one of those cases, where in addition to the massive sales of this Scale, and the good rates that widely overcome the 4 stars and down ones, bad rates don't harm. Sorry for those users though! One of the poorly rated reviews that caught my attention was one that said that this Scale was inaccurate. Well, I did my own tests and found the opposite. First, the Scale comes factory calibrated. At least the unit I received didn't require any additional adjustment. I weighed coins of specific denominations and searched online to compare and I got even results. In addition to weighing coins of different values, I also weighed coins of the same denomination to see if its weights matched, and was pleased to see IT DIDN'T! They just had only a tiny difference in grams, which is absolutely normal (because some are more worn than others). Then I took note of each individual weight and totalized it in my calculator, and compared the result to the weight of all the coins together in the Scale and it was exactly the same. This was really a simple test, but to me it is more than enough. It was satisfying to see that all the weight results and comparisons were accurate and consistent so I am sure now that when I do real weight works I will get accurate and consistent results as well. The other detail I also liked about this Scale was the battery compartment; it has room for spare batteries! (What device that you know has that? Wow! How convenient!). The construction of the unit is good (looks strong, well-built and looks cool too). Despite the lid looks a bit fragile initially (the hinges are kind of loose), after few uses you get used to it and becomes somewhat normal (nothing to worry about). Accessing the control buttons is very comfortable, and I really love the availability of different weight measures (gr, oz, ct, gn, ozt, dwt). Ahem, plz excuse me..., this is my first Scale!; I didn't know it was just a conventional function! ;-) Just noticed a small inconvenience about the LCD screen; it does not provide a clear reading at inclined angles, which is how you look at it when you place the Scale e.g. on your desktop. You have to look at it 'almost' perpendicularly (I'm exaggerating on this) to clearly read the info. But I think this is a matter of custom, not worth taking out a star for this fact. Has auto off which is very convenient. And finally, some reviewer wrote that s/he received the unit with leaking batteries. Well, yes, unusual and annoying!, but that can happen even with the most costly devices that (surprisingly) come with batteries! So you better check the batts as soon as you receive your unit to verify that everything is ok. In conclusion, cheap products are usually a bloody disaster (again, exaggerating). But hey, honestly, I am glad to say that THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM! As my title says, this is a pretty decent Scale. Sure there are better (with considerable higher prices), but what you get for this price is an absurd bargain! Greetings from Colombia, JAS

MOST FUNCTIONAL AND ACCURATE SCALE IN THE WORLD.
American Weigh Scales has become an absolute game-changer in my baking journey, and I can't help but share my AMAZING experience with their exceptional product. Let me tell you, this scale is not just a kitchen tool; it's a culinary companion that has elevated my baking to a whole new level. Literally as soon as the moment I unboxed it, I was impressed by the sleek design and modern aesthetic. The attention to detail in both form and function is evident, making it a standout addition to my kitchen. The user-friendly interface made me feel like a pro from the kitchen hahaha, and the CONVIENENT controls meant I spent less time figuring out the scale and more time focusing on my passion for baking. ANOTHER THING the precision is literally the best thing ever omg! I have tried the same amoumts of ingredients on different scales and gotten different amounts all the time, but with AWS there is a great consistency with their precision. So haha trust me when I say this scale will literally be a life saver!

AWS-100 Digital Scale - Excellent - EZ Sell
This review is for the American Weigh Scales (AWS) AWS-100 digital scale. The ad was labelled "AMW-100" but the correct model name is "AWS-100". I purchased the scale from EZ Sell via Amazon. It was shipped by EZ Sell and it arrived in only 3 days from the order date with standard (free) shipping. I received the silver scale as advertised---it is available in black from other sellers. The AWS-100 has a maximum capacity of 100 grams and a sensitivity of 0.01 grams. Most scales like this are calibrated with a weight equal to the scale's maximum capacity and a suitable 100 gram calibration weight was included by the seller. This was a major reason why I chose to buy from EZ Sell as opposed to another seller. As others have reported, the weight is provided in a tiny ziplock bag that is quite flimsy. I recommend getting a heavier ziplock for storage since the one provided tears easily. I tested the calibration weight with another AWS scale (that was already calibrated) and it read exactly 100.0 grams. Then I tested the new AWS-100 scale. The calibration weight read 100.24 grams. The rated tolerance for the AWS-100 at 100 grams is 0.02 grams which means that the scale should read from 99.98 to 100.02 grams. The AWS-100 instructions said that it is normal to recalibrate the scale whenever it is moved or shipped to a new location. It was extremely easy to calibrate using the instructions provided. The scale now reads a perfect 100.00 grams with the calibration weight. The AWS-100 works very well. It is fast and very sensitive---gently breathing on it will cause the reading to increase a few hundredths of a gram. The LCD readout is easy to read. The features work very well: It is easy to change units (g, oz, gn, ct) with the "Mode" button or zero a tray with the "Tare" button. I was very glad to see that the non-removable hinged cover lays completely flat when opened so it is totally out of the way in case you need to lay an oversized tray or object (like an envelope) on the scale platform. Having an accurate scale with a 0.01 gram sensivity that can be easily calibrated by the user is awesome for this price (US$16.99 with the 100 gram calibration weight). It includes a 10-year warranty from the manufacturer, AWS. It seems to offer excellent value and I'm very satisfied with it. I highly recommend it.

This digital pocket scale is fantastic! It’s compact, accurate, and very easy to use. The LCD display is clear, and it quickly switches between grams, ounces, carats, and grains. Perfect for weighing kitchen ingredients, although sometimes the measurement can hesitate slightly.

CALABRATION
I mistakenly ordered a fifty gram weight to calibrate this scale with and learned the hard way that I needed a five hundred gram weight to accomplish this. But I should start at the beginning here... When the box arrived, I opened the box and turned the scale on and it began to give weird readings. Nothing was on the scale to be weighed but the screen kept showing readings from .8 to .4 to 0 to .4 ... I assumed that the thing needed to be calibrated so I followed the easy instructions inside the lid of the scale and began the easy calibration steps. The only problem was, I only had a 50 gram calibration weight and you can ONLY calibrate this scale with a 500 gram weight. Once I had begun the calibration procedure, using the incorrect weight, the scale was locked in the calibration mode and I couldn't do anything with it. Disgustedly, I called the manufacturer for technical support. The support tech was polite and helpful but the only recommendation he had was that I order the correct weight or take the scale to a jeweler and see if they would calibrate it for me. I was really disgusted at this point. I did a search on Google to see what I could use instead of the proper weight and learned that 100 nickels weigh 500 grams. So I went through my coin jar and counted out 100 nickels into a plastic sandwich bag. I used this to calibrate the scale and then tested the scale with the 50 gram weight that I had. It was off by a smidge so I added a little piece of cardboard to the bag of nickels and recalibarated the scale again and tested it with the 50 gram weight again. I had to do this a few times but eventually got it right. The scale works perfectly now and I really like it. It's accurate. It's compact. It has a nice protective cover. It uses AAA batteries instead of button cells. It turns itself off after several seconds to conserve the batteries. It's easy to read. Moral of the story here: Buy the correct calibration weight -- 500 grams -- or get lots of nickels. I'm glad that I at least had the 50 gram weight to test with. Otherwise I would have been running all over the house looking for products that are weighed in grams to test the calibration with.

you can reset and calibrate your scale, last sentence. Perfect for my flowers business, not for medicine for my dog though.
Perfect scale for gold or s crap jewlrey buying and z I have compared it rounding .047 and it Zheng right with a milligram. However, it isn't something I would weigh medicines with because I do have to calibrate it after carrying, dropping, overweighting etc. I wouldn't go with another scale for medical flowers either! Left on a table for months to weigh out fresh amounts to evenly roll into a bouget (joint) (also in state of Colorado as a patient) but would work for tobacco rollers who tend to have that "bump" in their roll up! If your worried about over 1/100th of a gram of anything besides powdered medicine in a lab I would recommend this! However it's not one to weigh yourself on..but you can see it's accuracy with a nickel. Use that coin on center, if the digits read 5.00 it's in shape! 5.01 might mean a nick of dirt is on the edge, or rounded. But if your broke and want to calibrate which takes 100 grams with this scale you can make an accurate calculation by placing 20 nickels on it. (10 in two stacks is best, and 5 grams times 20 pieces makes a calibration weight itself as long as nice clean nickels are used! It reads 5.00 after I do it and I test every single nickel I used!! Hence my title, rate this please, my first review ever for weighing a good band today better than a jewelers scale I had to! And I might get sent anither to try! :) (For professional use , buy their 100g weight, as it will stay within 1/10 of a gram but I would recommend a couple extra dollars than having to spend the time it takes)

Helped me make money and lasted a while
Good for weighing things to sell. My roommates couldn't get enough of this and started referring to it as "the scale" instead of "my scale".

Good Quality / Price
Very precise and looks sturdy enough to last for years to come. My only complain is I wish it could weight more than 350g, but advertise for a max of 300g so I knew when I bought it.

Impec
Impeccable. Je l'utilise pour peser du houblon pour le brassage de bière. La fonctionnalité de remise à zéro lorsqu'il y a un récipient dessus est parfaite.
