We are using this to hang 3 small flower pots (~1-1.5 lbs ea.) in kitchen window above sink. I tried using another "locking" curtain rod but there was no way to get it into the space tightly enough to even stay up on its own. This one allowed me to expand it by twisting the locking mechanism and fully secure it.I trust it enough that I plan to hang 2 additional small flower pots from it, for a total of 5 pots at ~7 lbs.

This is a nightmare! It is not easy to assemble, once I did get it up and hang stuff on the rail I was woken 3am the next morning by it falling down. I have never been able to get it to work and stay up so never used it

I bought this to hang clothes but it kept sliding down and eventually fell.

LOVE this tension rod! It's actually metal. Now, I just installed it today so I can't comment on rust proof-ness. It seems very solid and strong. It looks great too! The directions are super clear. If you're having trouble, I assumed you only twist around once, but keep twisting until it is tight. Then pull back and install. Highly recommend.
