How long will the plants survive in pots of aquarium isn’t set up ?

aprox 2 weeks with daily light for the plant. plants can be in a cup for 2-3 weeks. then nutrients run out and the plant dies

I have a simple LED strip light with white, blue and red bulbs. No CO2. About half I put into a simple substrate of crushed lava rock and Fluval stratum. The remainder is tied to wood so that it formed a mat over the branch. Been in for a year now and looks great...
