The 80s were a golden age of cartoons and Jem and The Holograms are up there with the best.The storyline and the music is catchy and the The Misfits are great baddies.

If you grew up in the 80s, then you will remember this classic show which mixes animation with pop music. The episodes haven't been remastered but I'm glad they haven't as it symbolises exactly how Jem looked when it was broadcast on TV in the 80s. One flaw about this box set is that there's no special features unlike the region 1 version. Anyhow, don't let that bother you. I ordered the dvd as a birthday present and thoroughly enjoyed it.

How wonderful to be able to finally purchase the complete series of Jem and the Holograms here in the UK! I was so excited when I heard this was coming out, I pre ordered it immediately. It is packaged nicely and is a ten disc set. Don't expect superb quality here, remember this is an '80's cartoon, the animation was never that great to start with and it hasn't been digitally remastered or anything, this is exactly as you will remember it being when you watched it first time round. Sound quality is perfectly fine though. I have only deducted a star because the US release got extras in the form of a jukebox for all the tracks and also interviews with the likes of Britta Phillips (singing voice of Jem), Samantha Newark (speaking voice of Jem/Jerrica) and Christy Marx who was the main writer of the show, and all of these extras have been omitted from the UK release for reasons I do not know? Well worth buying though, you can always watch the missing interviews on a well known video site! ;)

This is a sweet tween musical fantasy of youtube propelling 3 sisters into a cliche of hollywood stardom. It is done well and for all the slightly exaggerated, formulaic and 'fancy-extra' elements, is sympathetic, engaging, fun and entertaining.There are elements of family fellowship, a supportive validating humanist message, treasure hunt, old family history, saving an inheritance, good versus evil values, the male crush, a great song (or two) some nice dialogue, and overall a nice story, that doesn't need half the jazz and complexity some producer's focus group has tried to cram into it. Fair is fair, it was much of it from a comic strip origin, and they have been faithful in their homage. I give credit to the screen writer who makes it work despite the curlicues, over-done evil step mum and robot-hologram. The actors carry their weight and have good material to work with. The leads do particularly well. It is easy to be enchanted however fluffy this is, the key elements are all there and done right.RECOMMENDED

My teenage girls really love this film and so do I. If we'd have listened to the critics we would have missed out on an up-to-date reboot of an 80s cartoon which was originally aimed at teenage girls. I watched it as a teenage girl in the 80s and I thought it was great so it gave me great pleasure to see that my daughters appreciated a film of that same cartoon that was still aimed at teenage girls. The story has changed with the times. Add in social media and a smaller, mobile Synergy, the teenage problem of discovering who you are and what you want to be and you have a modern, uplifting story for girls (and boys, if they wish). It has a great soundtrack and a lovely message. Juliette Lewis is so comical as the boss of Starlight, Jem is played by the actress who plays Lydia Grant in the great Nashville series. What's not to love? This one's for the girls. Here's hoping we get a sequel with The Misfits who we get a glimpse of at the end. This is a great little introductory movie to the world of Jem and the Holograms. There should be more movies aimed at teenage girls and they certainly shouldn't be slated before anyone gets to see them the way this movie has. Trust me, this movie is a 'gem'!

Lo cercavo da tempo questo film e finalmente lo trovato ha fatto un lungo viaggio però è arrivato finalmente e anche in anticipo.

The media could not be loaded.  Adaptation de l'anime de 1985, Jem' est un film intéressant dont la mesure où il essaye de monter''le niveau'' de chacun. Il donne de l'espoir aux personnes qui ont du talent et des rêves.La chance peut tomber parfois sans que l'on s'y attend.Puis, le film montre ''cette simplicité'' de diffuser et de partager une vidéo (en ligne) au grand public. Du jour au lendemain, un label de musique peut vous contacter si votre 'talent' est très, très remarquable. '' Il y a parfois des idées, des voix qui ne doivent pas rester dans l'ombre ; ......''Jem, c'est tous ceux qui ont des rêves et qui espèrent le réaliser un jour''...Sur ce film, il y a eu vraiment un travail de ''fond'' sur l'histoire ainsi que sur la bande originale. Puis, on remarquera des réalisations uniques sur le plan du maquillage et sur l'aspect des protagonistes.Le casting du film a vraiment de la Voix'' et sait chanter (Aubrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Hayley Kiyoko, Aurora Perrineau, Ryan Guzman). Dans ce 'Jem', nous retrouvons notamment l'actrice et chanteuse Juliette Lewis dans le rôle d'Érica Raymond, ainsi que l'actrice Molly Ringwald (Rose bonbon, breakfast club, seize bougies pour Sam) dans le rôle de Madame Bailey. Le réalisateur Jon Chu a fait mieux que ses précédents films : ''Never say never'' et ''Step Up''.Enfin, cette adaptation est un Bon point de ralliement avec les spectateurs, les internautes et les fans de la saga.'' L'industrie'' incarné par Érica Raymond voulait en faire une icône solo mais ''Jem et Rio'' ont en décidé autrement. Un Beau film dans l'ensemble et une bande originale qui balance du tonnerre ! (Note : Jem s'est fait connaître grâce à son ''identité secrète'', sa voix, sa musique et l'appui de Kimber. Pour ceux qui douteraient de l'apparition des ''Misfits'' ; soyez patients et regardez le film jusqu'au bout ...et après). À voir et revoir !

Me hubiese gustado que tuviese el doblaje al castellano, pero me apetecía muchísimo tener esta serie que marcó mi infancia. :)
