wouldnt recommend
Product feels ok, bit cheap though the problem is the speed of my qnap ts-251 , the interface is horribly slow and it takes a long time to load any films or music. Runs better with plex through my tv or chromecast. I wouldve expect it to be an improvement direct from the qnap, not slower.

Great no nonsense remote
Works great as a no nonsense remote. Xbmc is fine with it and this remote works with my Intel NUC as well

Remote control, Software fault
When I'm browsing my folders with Kodi, the NAS opens others apps from the HD station, such as youtube or Chrome, which is a pain because then I need to use a mouse or the phone app to close them and defeats the purpouse of having a remote..

Works OK but lacks that 'quality' feel!
Device arrived in excellent time and was packaged well. The remote is functional and performs as required, though does not have the QNAP 'quality' feel as it is very light weight and the plastic it is constructed of is thin and rough silver finish.Only problem I'm having is probably a software issue in that the directional cursor keys need debouncing as they frequently move two or more steps when pressed.I had expected an Air Mouse type of remote, which would make entering info via the onscreen keyboard much easier.

Simplicity Personified
I recently purchased a Qnap NAS box (TS-253 Pro), which I keep in my living room alongside my Samsung Smart TV. And even though I patched it into my home network and the TV using a HDMI cable, I quickly realized navigating the OSD menus with an old-fashioned wired keyboard, wasn't a great option, especially with such a short lead!So I opted for this recommended remote control. No issues with delivery or packing, and comes "ready-to-use" straight out of the box because it ships with one CR2032 Lithium 3v battery! And no configuration required, just a basic "point-and-click" and you're off.The distance between my chair and the NAS box is about twelve feet, but the RC works perfectly. And you don't have to be deadly accurate pointing the device at the IR sensor on the NAS box either - at least not for me! Just so long as you point it in the general direction it should work fine. However, it's still felt a bit fiddly typing out names and URL's using the OSD keyboard, so I also purchased a mini wireless keyboard (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00T2SJUWA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00), which compliments the RC very well. (Admittedly you could just as easily opt for the keyboard over the RC, but for simple navigation, the RC was fine)Some reviews have complained about the relatively poor construction of the RC, or is difficult to hold in the hand over a period of time. Well, for me at least, neither were true. It was solid enough, simple layout, light to carry and a pleasure to use.Recommended for simple point & click, but consider a wireless keyboard if you're going to do a lot of on-screen typing.4/5

Not recommended
Cheap plastics, quite uncomfortable to use, terrible when you need to type a password or use the web browser. I recommend a wireless usb mini keyboard instead.

Simple to use
Simple enough to allow the non-technical to quickly access Kodi and drill down to their videos.
