VLT 0-8% - Suitable for sunny day with bright light. VLT 9-18% - Suitable for sunny to partly cloudy day. VLT 19-42% - Suitable for overcast, cloudy, foggy day. They just want their question to be answered with something besides "I dont know" Yes, this will fit your helmet. The higher the VLT the better you will be able to see in low light conditions. If you want something to protect against bright light stick with the low VLT and dark lense.

what lens should i get?

It depends on the weather. They have the percentage of transparency (VLT), VLT11-18 % are for clear days and 99% are complete Transparent. I have black and they were perfect for sunny and cloudy days

What do the letters before the vlt % mean? i am seeing ao, x, y, & z....

People have already answered this and it turns out that they are internal for the manufacturer and don't mean anything to the consumer. It is confusing because everybody is asking this question. I'm betting the company wishes they wouldn't have done this.
