I bought this to test my metal detecting treasures, mainly gold and silver jewelry. It arrived quickly and well packaged. I tested several types of gold and some silver and it did fine. I had some 10 k gold that didn’t dissolve fast in the 14 k acid but instantly in 18k acid so maybe the 14 acid is old or I’m doing it wrong. Haven’t tried the diamond tester yet, but will. Great starter kit. I think it needs a storage case tho, apart from that it’s great

For the price, this kit is decent. The acids, diamond tester, and loupe make it worth it. Even if the last two are of cheaper quality, they get the job done. As someone just starting out with jewelry, I’d recommend for beginners. However, the stone is crap. Other reviews mention that the acids don’t work, but I’d bet my money that it’s really the fact that the testing stone is actually glass. It doesn’t scratch well, and tests awfully. If you’re looking for an alternative, I found a real stone one under the SE brand for less than $10. It’s tiny, but tests miles better than the glass they provide in this one.

This is a great for testing gold, silver, and diamonds to make sure,that what you get when investing in these items is genuine. It is unfortunate that there are individuals out there that try to sell you things that are not genuine or are less than what it,advertised. You really have to be careful and protect yourself from these individuals. This kit allows you to do this.

This is a very comprehensive kit for easily testing your thrift store finds. It comes with a very reliable diamond tester that I know works because I've tried it on a real diamond ring and a CZ ring and it was obvious the way the lights work that it could tell the difference. It's amazing that it contained everything it did for the price, I think it's a great value. The only thing I'm missing now is a small accurate gram scale. No it did not come with the carrying case it came in a plastic bag, the carrying case that it is in I bought right here on Amazon.

Unfortunately what I intended to buy this for which is the drops for metal testing, they do not work as expected. I am unsure if they are expired or if they just don’t work properly but they do not give me the results I was looking for and instead the metals start to almost float once the drops are placed on. I have tried this with jewelry I know is pure gold and not questionable yet I still came across this issue :( looked to get a partial refund at least considering I like the microscope and diamond tester it came with but it didn’t give me the option to.

I've tried everything to get the diamond tester to work. I've even went on YouTube and got the exact directions for it and it still doesn't work. All it does is beep. I have turned it all the way down and it still doesn't work correctly. The metal testing seems to work. I have tested it with gold and silver. The gold definitely works correctly. Silver acid ate through the cap so make sure you store it up right
