Is there any way to turn the blue light off and keep only the white? Will the optional timer help?

I believe that all the lights are 6500k and there is no individual blue lights. Regardless this light just comes with a 3 way switch. Dim-off-bright.

Beamswork sells a timer for this light, which can be found here on Amazon, I have one and it is just a timer, no dimming function.

Have a 48" tank with canopy, will the power cord sticking out the side get in the way from putting the canopy on?

I can’t imagine why, it has a low profile.

what do the marks on the switch mean?

I believe they are the blue lights/white lights selector when you do not use the timer. I use the timer, it works well.
