Nor can she deny the pull Lord Wrenworth exerts upon her. Dare she get any closer to a man full of dark secrets, any one of which could devastate her? Discover more of the acclaimed romance by Sherry Thomas in her compelling Fitzhugh trilogy, Beguiling the Beauty, Ravishing the Heiress and Tempting the Bride . Review: ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ - This is the first book in the Sherry Thomas London series, it is an extremely captivating and satisfying read outlining Louisa and Felix’s voyage of self discovery - their recognition of the reasons they behave as they do and their emotional growth. They are wonderful, both highly intelligent and insightful - recognising each other for who they truly are behind their polite, social facades. Each of them outwardly follow the conventions and mores of the day but they are both cynical and atypical of their time. Acknowledging this within each other they openly discuss their wants and needs. Felix is fascinated by Louisa and it amuses him that she is the only member of society who sees his true self and not the face he outwardly presents. Louisa fears Felix because she is physically drawn to him and she has no illusions that he will marry her, she is utterly truthful around the lust she has for Felix and shares her sexual fantasies with him. Despite their differences Louisa and Felix share some similarities. They each enjoy a long term interest in astronomy, and both have familial issues they need to overcome. Felix had a wretched childhood (described in the prologue), and it is easy to understand, if not forgive, how he grows into the man he becomes. Louisa, as the oldest daughter of an impoverished family, feels responsible for her mother and four younger sisters and is determined to marry well in order to keep them all in a comfortable lifestyle. A spellbinding book with intelligent dialogue, attractive characters and a thought provoking story - well worth the time and effort. Sometimes laugh out loud funny other times painful and raw but always worth the emotional investment. I love this book. Review: Well up to her usual standard - Well-written with good characterisation and plenty of sexual tension. After a childhood spent being used as a weapon between his parents, Felix re-creates himself into The Ideal Gentleman. Of course, beneath the facade, he's nothing of the sort. Louisa, in need of a wealthy husband, has put a lot of time and effort into appearing to be the perfect bride - though underneath she is no more perfect than Felix is ideal. The fact that both of them are pretending is what enables each of them to recognise pretence in the other. I liked both characters and certain scenes - notably the one where Louisa admits to Felix that only 25% of her bust is her own! - live in the memory. Ms Thomas has talent.

Goes on a bit
I'm still reading it - and these type of books I usually devour in a sitting. Thus - it goes on a bit...

Kept me interested throughout
This was the first book I have read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The story of the romance was different to the ones I usually read but quite interesting. The hero was quite conniving, and the heroine was clever in her thinking. I will certainly read other books by Ms Thomas. My only beef with the book was Ms Thomas' referring to a place as Cotswold. There is no such place! There is an area of England called The Cotswolds. It would be like talking about Long Island and The Hamptons as Hampton.

A lovely, warm and funny story.
I found this story hugely entertaining and the verbal sparring very funny indeed. I also rather liked that characters whose stories are told in other books crop up here - appropriately because they are all part of the same social scene in London. In this story Lady Tremaine's (Private Arrangements) former lover, Felix, meets and joins battle with the woman he deserves.

A very enjoyable read
I liked the way the author draw you to her characters. One of my favorite writers alongside Julie Ann Long, Lorraine Heath, Sophie Jordan and Tessa Dare.

Wonderful characters.
I don’t write reviews very often, but I do make exceptions for certain books, and this is one of them. It is not a story full of events, that is to say that there are no murders, spies, or climactic events, this is more in the way of a character study. It’s a study of two people who wear masks, and what lies behind those masks, and how they come together as a couple. I loved this book, and just couldn’t put it down until it was finished. The prose is beautiful, and I loved the cast of characters. Highly recommended.

Ótimo e divertido
Mais uma ótima recomendação do site All About Romamce.

Electric chemistry b/w the lead characters.
Kept my interest right from the first chapter. Both the main characters were powerfully formed, the sexual tension between them was electric . There were no explicit sex scenes written , just the hint of what could happen. The story line was really good and flowed effortlessly . I would highly recommend it.
