André Rieu: The Magic Of Maastricht - 30 Years Of The Johann... [DVD] [2017] [NTSC]

This was really special to us as we were at the concert on one of the days. Spectacular is the only way to describe it. The DVD captures the evenings music and atmosphere really well. The original gig was about 3 hours long with the short interval. It's a shame they never put the end bit of the interval on the disc as an extra. The orchestra were ready to start but there were a lot of stragglers going back to there seats. Andre Rieu started bantering them and then he started whistling at them which ended up as a full orchestral version of Colonel Bogey. The appearance of David Hasselhoff was a real surprise but entertaining. The sound quality of the disc is very good. Especially through the surround system. I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone. And the memories ahhh !!

I bought this with an open mind. I was aware beforehand of the showmanship and the 'jokes', but was blown away by the professionalism. It was, as they said, like Vienna in the late 1700s. The downside is having David Hasselhoff singing (badly) but it only lasts for six and a half minutes out of a total of two and a half hours. Worth buying if the only experience you have of Andre Rieu is through newspaper adverts. It's a lot better!

We saw this concert in 2017 at Cineworld and was very impressed. I bought this DVD as a Christmas surprise for my wife and she loves it. It’s a really uplifting concert and so good to see so many happy people in the audience. Andre and his orchestra are so talented and obviously enjoy playing their music.

This is my first André Rieu purchase as I’d heard his music before, and I loved his showmanship, bravado, and the way he makes classical music both popular again, and fun. My only criticism is of the concert itself. The first two hours were amazing. I was blown away. But then David Hasselhoff of all people came on stage, tried to “sing”, and quite frankly couldn’t, and for me, this totally ruined the last 30 minutes of the concert. I was not amused. I’m no snob but I’m sure many other Rieu fans will agree with me on this. Other than that, the preceding 2 hours were fabulous, hence only 4 stars ......

What can be said about the Master of Maastricht music that hasn't been already said? Magnificent, stupendous, entertaining - all those and more. Celebrating 30 years together with the Johan Strauss Orchestra, Andre has again produced a magnificent show which never fails to give pleasure. Just look at the audience reaction and it says everything, only wish I was there myself at one of these magnificent concerts. One day, I've promised myself, but for now, I'm content to enjoy this magnificent DVD of the concert and be thoroughly entertained

Always good dvd to buy nice music

THIS CONCERT CELEBRATES THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE JOHANN STRAUSS ORCHESTRA. THESE MAASTRICHT CONCERTS HAVE BECOME TRADITIONAL, AND THE RESULT IS THE FANS WANT TO HEAR AND SEE THE SAME OLD ITEMS THEY HAVE SEEN MANY TIMES BEFORE. ÓF COURSE THE CRITICS WILL DISAPPROVE AND COMPLAIN THAT IT HAS FAR TOO MANY REPEATS. FREDERIC JENNIGES PLAYING "THE THIRD MAN" ETC. ON THE ZITHER, WITH A SPOT OF HUMOUR THROWN IN, WAS JUST WHAT THE AUDIENCE WANTED TO HEAR, OLD FAVOURITES. FOR SOMETHING NEW, ANDRE, INTRODUCED TWO CHINESE SOPRANOS, JING LI, AND, SHAO LIN, WHO SANG "PLAISIR D'AMOUR" AND "SHANGHAI TAN" BEAUTIFULLY. THEY WERE VERY WELL RECEIVED BY THE AUDIENCE, THEY ALSO JOINED THE OTHER TWO SOPRANOS, DONIJ VAN DOORN, AND, ANNA MAJCHRZAK, FOR THE FINALE. THE "RADETZKY MARCH" STIRRED UP THE FUN WITH ITS CONFETTI DROP AND SHORTLY AFTERWARDS, STEPHANIE, REPEATED HER TAP DANCING ACT ON TOP OF THE PIANO. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY THE VERY ROMANTIC "CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE" WITH A TORCH LIGHT SING-A-LONG. THE GUEST SINGER, DAVID HASSELHOFF, THEN SANG FOUR SONGS WHICH DELIGHTED EVERYONE. THIS D.V.D. HAS ALMOST TWO HOURS AND TWENTY MINUTES RUNNING TIME AND ANDRE SPEAKS IN ENGLISH. THE CONCERT IS FULL OF OLD FAVOURITES WHICH KEPT THE AUDIENCE HAPPY. I ENJOYED IT AND WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO YOU. I just love andre rieu

Me gusta mucho la música de André Rieu y solo tenía DVD's free did conciertos, pero no tenía Blu-ray y la calidad de imagen es enorme. Muy satisfecho con mi compra.

La calidad de imagen y sonido de este Blu-ray, son espectaculares. Felicidades a la productora !!!. El envío y la rapidez en la entrega por parte de Amazon, también excelente.

Andre Rieu's DVDs are always great light entertainment not only for listening but visually as well.

Each show that Andre Rieu presents is a great introduction into the easy listening classical music. The general setup of the show on the main square in Maastricht has become a standard especial the "encores" are close to the same each show in Maastricht. To me that is not a problem just a recognition of the oldies you are familiar with. In short good classical entertainment.
