About the Startup
Describe your product in 3 words.
Personal Theatre Device
How did you come up with the idea for this product?
Avegant co-founders Edward Tang and Dr. Allan Evans derived the
Glyph’s technology from their previous research on high quality,
personal displays at a U.S. government lab. Seeing a gap in the
consumer marketplace for premium head-ed displays for
personal entertainment, they established Avegant and started
developing the Glyph.
What makes your product special?
The Glyph is a complete solution for mobile media consumption.
Users can watch movies, play games, work privately and even fly
drones in an extremely comfortable and stylish way. The Glyph
uses Retinal Imaging Technology - a patented screenless display
architecture - to project an image directly onto the user’s
retina. This technology is comfortable, safe and great for
long-term use, unlike any other head-ed display in the
market.
What has been the best part of your startup experience?
The support of our community has played a very influential role
in our development as a company. The Glyph initially launched as
a crowdfunded project and reached its fundraising goal within
about four hours of launch thanks to the strong community around
it. That community has remained key to our product development
and testing lifecycle as the Glyph came to market -- and it
ultimately ended up influencing the final version of the product.
