It is okay to use on the face?

Yes. I'm 53 and have used it on my face since my late 20s. Everyone thinks I'm in my 30s. I think it's from using it on my face because I wash with Safeguard soap and put on some Eucerin and that's my total skin care routine.

which is better. cream or lotion?

um... Eucerin have a very confusing naming scheme. Eucerin have a oily percentage from Light to Rich, on a scale of 5. 1-2 is a lotion, 3-4 is a cream, 5 is a balm. eucerin call alot of their cream as lotion, and balm as cream. but generally if you have oily skin you want to go with lotion, dried skin you want to go with a cream, very dried and cracked skin go with a Balm/Healing Ointment.

Yes, this is fragrance free, and that is one of the reasons I purchase it. I love that it does not smell!

Thick and creamy

Great moisturizing lotion for difficult dry, chapped skin. It needs to be used generously and worked into the skin, which takes a bit of rubbing. But it is worth it.
