Perfect for bedtimes! I got this because I wanted the sequel to "I want to go into the zoo", but this is a collection of fun (and addictive) short stories with great illustrations. Perfect for reading to little ones. It's quite heavy, so probably not ideal for older ones to read to themselves unless they are quite strong, I imagine by the time they can easily hold this they would be too old for these stories.

My 4-year-old student absolutely LOVED the Big Blue Book, but after reading each story 4-5 times, we were ready for a change, and I ordered the Big Red Book. She loves it equally, we have already read two of the stories 4 times. She is learning so many words, and I love the way some words repeat through different stories, so she is not just memorizing one story, but recognizing the words. I highly recommend "The Big ... Book of Beginner books, and will certainly buy other "colours" as well!

These books were recommended to us to read with our 6 year old who is going into 1st grade this year. They’re great because he can read it, but we can also read it to him. Contains all great books in one big book! Highly recommend for beginner readers. So fun!
