One of the most beautifully illustrated books I’ve seen. Nice recipes and tips for planting/growing/harvesting. Highly recommend!

This book details some aspects that are not even mentioned on seed packets (such as recommended soil PH), and simplifies the sometimes confusing agricultural zones into cold/temperate/tropical, and planting by seasons. The recipe with each plant, is in metric units, which to me in no big deal, but might annoy some. The amount of information provided for each plant is extensive, but not overwhelming in the way it is presented. It lists a few varietals for each, but keeps the info to a page or two. Most of the “dry” information (PH, season, maturity time, etc) is displayed on the left in a small table like one would find on a seed packet. The right is write ups involving planting, tending, etc. I typically do not buy many of these books, as I have been gardening veggies and fruit for over 30 years, but bought this in hardback and a kindle version, to check things while I am shopping, or “on the fly” to double check things. I love how it recommends companion plants, as well as ones to avoid planting beside it. It reads like a cookbook for the garden. As an avid “Good Eats” series fan by Alton Brown, it very much has the feel he puts towards food, put toward gardening. It includes not only veggies, but fruits as well. My only complaint is that it does not go as in depth on some things as I would like, such as comparing determinate versus indeterminate for tomatoes, but doing so to the level which everything else is addressed, would destroy the simplicity of the presentation. That being said, the information provided is great for both types. A great introductory book, and a valuable reference book for the advanced as well. The recipes are just a bonus.

I love how the info is presented in this book: it’s concise, efficient and there is none of that dull veg gardening stuff. The author’s illustrations are adorable! And there are the recipes for nearly every veg. But above all, the little personal stories she sprinkles here and there are an absolute pleasure to read.

This item came scuffed up. There are marks on the front, back, and seam of the book. This was supposed to be a gift but I don’t think I can gift it in this condition.

The most beautiful and amazing book. Not only incredibly informative but I work of art. Highly recommend for your own Gunn or as a present for any one.

Includes a very handy and useful quick reference table.

Really disappointed, this was purchased as a gift but it’s come dirty and marked up on both sides.
