A future proofed PSU
After extensive research for a reliable power supply unit for my upgraded PC build, I settled on the MSI MPG 850G PCIe 5 Power Supply. Here's my honest take on its performance and features. As of writing I have been using this PSU for the last week or so.The MPG 850G boasts compatibility with PCIe 5, which provides some degree of future-proofing for system upgrades. Its 80 Plus Gold certification ensures decent efficiency, helping to manage power consumption effectively. In terms of build quality, the MPG 850G is solidly constructed with premium components. It is a shame that the smart design is hidden away under a PSU shroud. The fully modular design simplifies cable management, contributing to a cleaner interior and potentially better airflow. I liked the flatness of the cables as this aided in routing them throughout my case (Fractal Design Pop air)One notable aspect is its relatively quiet operation. The large ~140mm fan does its job efficiently, keeping noise levels at a reasonable level even under demanding tasks. This is definitely appreciated, especially for those who prioritize a quieter computing experience. And if 0RPM mode is switched on, the Fan doesn't even operate under 40% load, meaning no additional noise is created. This is great as I use the PC in a communal living space.Worth mentioning is the excellent 10yr warranty, which gives me piece of mind that my purchase should have a long life, possibly beyond my current PC build.Overall, the MSI MPG 850G PCIe 5 Power Supply delivers decent performance and features. While it has its strengths such as compatibility with PCIe 5 and efficient operation, there are some areas for improvement like cable length. If you're in the market for a mid-range power supply with solid performance, the MPG 850G is worth considering.

Great build quality for a great price
I got this PSU because MSI is a brand I trust. Iโve used MSI parts for around 20 years and they have never let me down. I find the build quality is always great and well packaged so the items get to you un-damaged.ProsGreat cable quality and everything you need for your builds.Silent switch on the PSU so if your PC is idle and the PSU is cool the fan will switch off.Nice design on the side of the PSU so if you have a case where you can see the PSU then you are not just looking at a black box.A choice of 12v GPU cables.ConsThe SATA power cables are a bit too long for my build so I did have to tuck them in a bit more than I would have liked.Over all this PSU has been a great addition to my all MSI build and will deliver the power I need to run my PC and give me some headroom if I want to add more drives, upgrade my GPU or over clock my system. At ยฃ109.99 I personally feel itโs an amazing price and with a 10 year warranty over the 7 year you get with the MAG PSU for an extra ยฃ10 I feel itโs a no brainer

High Quality, Silent PSU
The MSI MPG A850G has been solid so far. Itโs easy to work with thanks to the fully modular cables, and it comes with a small bag for the cables you don't use. Thereโs a 0-fan mode toggle next to the power switch. However, I use it with the fan on, but the PSU is still silent in my setup. It runs quietly under load, and I havenโt had any issues. The size is also pretty good, slightly smaller than my previous PSU. It has the same high-quality parts as a more expensive PSU, but for a way better price. Would recommend.

Great value 850W PCIe 5 ATX 3.0 PSU
This was the best value ATX 3.0 PSU I could find for my new RTX 4080 build, without cutting corners on quality. Very pleased with it so far - fit perfectly into my case. Cables are good quality as far as bundled ones go, and I love the cable storage bag that's included. The 12 VHPWR cable is braided and quite thick, and a little hard to bend/shape - I appreciate the quality, but because you have to be careful not to stress the GPU connector the cable touches the side panel when installed; the 4080 GPU is huge! This doesn't affect anything beyond aesthetics, but because MSI is a big company it's easy to find alternative modded cables if you want (be careful to check the pinouts if you do). It's very quiet in operation, and I've overclocked both my CPU and GPU with no power delivery issues. No complaints at this price point, and it comes from a reputable brand. I toyed with the idea of going with the Corsair RMx series, but for the same price, that one isn't an ATX 3.0 PSU so I'd have had to use the triple PCIe to 12VHPWR adapter and messed up my minimalist cable management. So glad I went with MSI on this one, the lengthy warranty and quality build make this easy to recommend, and it paired well with the MSI Z690 MOBO I chose, too. Will definitely be going MSI on my next build!

Quality PSU
Chose this ATX 3.0 PSU as it seemed the best bang for buck at the time, upgrading from an older corsair 550w due to a new GPU. A modern PSU and being 850w should last well into the future. Fully modular so cable management made easy and the cables seem really good quaility. Runs very quiet and efficient, there is a physical button at the back to keep the fan off under low load. It comes with the new 12v power supply needed for 40xx GPU so this was also a plus making cable management tidier and no doubt this will be the standard moving forward. Plenty of cables included in the box and it also comes with a nice branded storage bag to keep them in. The nice thing about a quality PSU is that you can move it into your new builds in the future and with a long 10 year warranty and Japanese capacitors I'm confident this will serve me very well for may years to come. Recommended.

MSI MPG A850G PCIE5 Power Supply Review
The MSI MPG A850G PCIE5 power supply is an impressive choice for those building high-performance gaming PCs or workstations, especially when paired with a powerful CPU like the AMD Ryzen 7800X3D and a GPU such as the RTX 4070 Super. Hereโs a breakdown of the key aspects:Positives:* Tiered Performance: The MPG A850G PCIE5 is in the higher echelons of power supplies, offering excellent build quality and stability. With an 80+ Gold certification, it delivers efficient power conversion, ensuring that your components receive clean and reliable power without wasteful heat generation.* Quiet Operation: One of the standout features is how quiet this PSU runs. Even under heavy load, it manages to keep noise levels impressively low thanks to its high-quality fan and efficient cooling design. If youโre looking for a power supply that wonโt disrupt your gaming or work environment with loud fan noise, this one delivers.* Perfect for High-End Builds: With a power output of 850W, itโs more than enough to support power-hungry setups like the Ryzen 7800X3D and RTX 4070 Super. This PSU handles the power demands of these components with ease, ensuring that your system remains stable even during intense gaming or content creation sessions.Negative:Stiff Cables: While the build quality is solid, the cables are somewhat stiff, which can make cable management a bit more challenging. They donโt have the flexibility of some other high-end power supplies, which can make routing them through tight spaces or behind the motherboard tray a bit cumbersome. Itโs a minor inconvenience but something to keep in mind if youโre aiming for a clean and tidy build. Conclusion:The MSI MPG A850G PCIE5 is an excellent power supply for those building a performance-driven PC. Its quiet operation, efficient power delivery, and sufficient wattage for high-end components like the Ryzen 7800X3D and RTX 4070 Super make it a solid choice. The stiff cables are a minor drawback, but overall, this PSU offers great value and reliability for gamers and content creators alike.

arrived next day, easy to put into pc as an upgrade, modular meant i can ditch alot of the wires not needed in my building keeping the cable management nice and easy. perfect connector for modern GPU not using the weird nvidea 2 headed tail that makes any build look messy. super happy
