Durable! Highly recommend
Durable! Highly recommend- I left this outside overwinter, since last summer, figuring it was a write off, surprisingly I cleaned it up and it started working! It was submerged in mucky water, in a half burried circular rubber pond insert with a shallow aluminum pan set on top with holes, and two flagstines stacked, with a hole drilled through each- to keep the water flowing and shallow. Has to be the very best solar pump ever! Bonus points- in this heatwave, wildlife stopping by for a cool drink. Mission accomplished

Excellent customer service
This worked great, even in low sunlight. Until 22 days after the return window closed, it stopped working although it is in full sun and there is nothing blocking the pump. Not worth the money unless you want something for a short period of time. REVISED REVIEW: I should have noted that I followed the directions and tried everything recommended but the pump didn't work. I had intended to update this review to note that a few days later the pump started working again for no apparent reason. I have no idea what happened, why it stopped or then started working again on its own. Today I received this email: We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience regarding your order and would like to offer you a full refund for your purchase. If you would like a full refund: please reply 'Full refund'. We hope that you give us another chance. Thank you very much. Best regards, POPOSOAP I DID NOT contact them, they read my reveiw and contacted me. I have declined their offer of a refund since the pump is now working but I think this is excellent customer service and anyone considering a purchase should do so without hesitation.

Short life
It was easy to assemble and run. Only took a few minutes to get it running. The problem is that after only 3 weeks of intermittent use it stopped pumping. The power panel is functional but the pump turns off after 1 or 2 seconds. Unfortunately by the time I realized I couldn't find out why it wouldn't work it was past the warranty deadline.

Must be in FULL SUN to operate at all. Nice little pump.
I made a little bird bath fountain in the back yard, using a large cheap plastic planter and river rock. Other than this pump, noting else was needed. (I did have to plug the planter drain using silicone sealant / adhesive.) The little 6w version I have worked immediately when the solar panel was connected. (Note: Pump must be underwater before connecting to panel. You risk damaging the pump otherwise.) One Important thing to keep in mind. This solar panel will not work in the shade. Any shade. Just a little shade. When it's in full sun, it's pretty impressive for such a tiny pump. But if you don't have spot with full sun, at least some time of the day, it won't work for you. You do have about 8-10 feet of cord and the panel is easy to move around if you're willing to chase the sun. I took one star off because while the clear plastic tubing fit well on the pump, none of the spray heads or adapters provided would fit. Normally I would have taken more stars off for a serious issue like this, but in fairness this pump may still work fine for you. Here's the deal...if the pump itself is just below the waterline...no more than two inches or so, there is a hard plastic extension provided. And happily the spray heads will fit on it OK. If you need to lift the water more than that, 4' of clear flexible tubing is provided. In my case I needed about two feet of plastic tubing. This is when you run into trouble. The spray heads won't fit and can't be used. In many applications, however, just having the water come out of the end of the tubing is fine. For instance, maybe you have a little waterfall, and just need to feed the water into that. Or, as in my case, I just propped the tubing straight up and it makes a nice little arch of water...like coming out of a hose. The birds don't care!

Bought 2 for my birdbaths!
Gotta remember, this ONLY works in DIRECT sun! Shadows & clouds in front of the solar panel, or if the sun is waning on either side of the panel, reduce the fountain effectiveness. However, when fully activated, it is a powerful little fountain! Iโve had issues with what fountain spray I wanted to use as each one would spray tall enough that the slightest breeze blew the water out from the bath! So I just simply settled on NO spray at all and just let the fountain bubble from the bottom which works so much better now that I donโt have to constantly refill it daily!! The fountain DOES have a shutoff protection feature should your fountain run low / out of water. Birds are attracted to the splashing water, and I have rocks that hummers, butterflies and bees have the capacity to drink from as well. The fountain is easy to use, a great value for the $$ and looks great in the birdbath! The only downside I see is the cord between solar panel & fountain is only 6 feet and I wish it were longer so itโs not so noticeable since the panels had to be placed in areas that were distant from the fountain PLUS having to climb up the base of the birdbath.

Only lasted 1 season
Bummed this lasted only 1 season. I put it away for the winter, brought it back out this year and it worked for about a week and now nothing. When it worked it was great, but only getting one season of use out of it I feel it was a waste of money. I have others that are still going strong over multiple seasons.

Great solar water pump!
Great Solar water Pump! Used these for water fountain features displayed at an apartment building. They are fantastic. Easy to clean. I could tell these would work great for a large scale water feature. Had to come up with a trick I found on YouTube for the install in a medium size ceramic pot.

Longevity is questionable.
This is a initial review since it's only been in use for a month. The solar pumps are all similar, this one at 6W pump is much more powerful versus the other ones I have at half the wattage. This is good for the 30G+ tuff stuff tub with rice or minnow fish. This would be too strong for a smaller 10-15 round planter tub. The only downside that most of these solar pumps have is the sponge filter compartment needs to be much larger to accommodate a large sponge w/o clogging and cleaning often. I use an even coarse foam filter from a marineland canister filter so it won't clog as much. I don't use it for a bird bath so the other accessories are not used. Always get one with a detachable wire, in this case I need to buy a 10' extending cable and if it breaks then you're screwed with both pieces as garbage. Update: 1 out of the 2 stopped working not even 3 months of continuous use. Also the lower star is from getting warranty replacement, will update after how that goes.

Meh
Works okay but has to be in the super bright sun to continue working properly. Wouldnโt buy it again.

Doen't work
Does not work. The pump has a sensor in it that seems to detect when it's not in water. That would be great for not burning the motor out, but the sensor doesn't often seem to think it has enough water to run. I have my pump fully submerged in water and instead of a constant stream of water, it keeps turning on and off intermittently. If I'm lucky it will give me a continuous flow for 30 seconds or a minute but no longer, just the pump turning on and off constantly. It's definitely not an issue with the pannle as it's been strong enough to pump water even when clouded over. This is just a poorly put together pump.
