Get a paraffin soaked rag strip and put it in an empty baked bean can, with a couple of inches hanging out the top. Then three quarters fill the can with sulphur, making sure to hold the rag so that it’s in the middle of the can and the sulphur flows around it - a bit like a candle wick. Put can on a brick at bottom of greenhouse, light rag and get out quickly, shut the door. It will look like it’s gone out but it hasn’t. It burns slowly without obvious flame and takes a few hours - don’t go back in to check because sulphur dioxide is very poisonous. It does a great job of killing everything in there; bugs, moss, aphids. Best used at start of season.

Simple to use, sprinkled around blueberry plants and gently raked in it has increased the acidity of the soil, the plants are thriving. I've transferred the contents of the bag into a screw top tub for better storage, otherwise it will spill everywhere. I've found a well know stain remover's tub with it's measuring scoop is ideal.

Purchased to try to reduce scabbing on potatoes by making the soil more acid, so won't know if it works until next year. Quite a few hard lumps in the powder, which made it difficult to spread, but otherwise OK (beware - this is a VERY light powder, the slightest wind spreads it everywhere!). It comes in a plastic bag in a cardboard box. Unfortunately our bag had split right across the top, so the box was full of powder (hence the reduced points). On the plus side, the box didn't leak sulphur, but opening a box and finding it unexpectedly full of loose sulphur is not a pleasant experience. Some of it went in my eyes, which was quite painful (it combines with the watrer in your eyes to make dilute sulphuric acid!). I would probably buy this again (if it works), but I shall be VERY careful opeing the box!
